I found this Video very intresting, very well put together and by accident by scrolling through random videos. I am from the UK and loved and miss the 80s so much. I have never had the privilege of watching this Movie but thanks to this inspirational video, I will be watching it tonight for the first time.😊 John Candy was an incredible Actor and made the 80s and 90s an even better time to be alive. Im sure I will enjoy this Movie as its One of the few Starring John Candy I have not yet seen. Thanks for making this video. 👍 and Also... R.I.P John Candy ❤🙏

You wanted to stand where Steve Martin and John Candy were standing? I'd rather stand where Einsten, Jesus, Jfk, etc. stood!!

The Silver Dollar City family kept gambling out of the Branson area. The day will come when they regret that. Since they tanked casinos we've not been back there. No thanks.

I wish you had included the address or the city where they filmed. Some of us would like to visit and see what the hotel looks like, especially considering the late icon John Candy. It would be an honor to visit the hotel where he stayed while filming the movie. If you notice, all the movies made by John Hughes are filmed in Chicago, and he must have been born here or something.

The El Rancho motel was a real motel just off the highway from a bar/nightclub I worked at during the time they were shooting this scene. The place I worked for was called Poor Richards and we catered food to that location for the entire crew. BTW, we called the motel "Clean Sheets" because that is what they always had on their sign by the road, it was a place well know for fast hook ups!

The state has become solid red and Branson is a glorified church service. Majority of the shows are religious and too many billboard plastered every few feet. Get rid of the billboards and less church service. People do not go on vacation to a church service. The billboard every few feet overwhelms the beauty of the area and makes it looks cheap and run down.

I lived in St.Louis during the filming and heard through the news it starred Steve Martin and the late great John Candy... Truly have enjoyed both great actors and knew it would be a special movie, I just didn't know it would be a classic I would watch for decades to come... "Those aren't pillows!!"

Back around 1985/86 I had a client that told me she and her daughter were going to a casting call for non-speaking parts in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. The daughter had seen some sort of an ad looking for extras for some movie being shot partly in Chicago. I don't think the title was mentioned in the paper but I could be mistaken on that point. She lived in a suburb south of Chicago and she was doing it just on a lark because her daughter wanted to see if they could maybe be in a movie. Well, they were both selected to be background people in the movie. But the daughter's parts ended up on the cutting room floor as they say. She is a waitress in the restaurant that was supposedly in St. Louis. She was wearing a white blouse with a black thing around her neck that sort of looks like a bow tie and she's plainly seen at about 45 minutes and 20 seconds into the movie when Candy is getting up to leave. I was pretty sure she said that restaurant scene was filmed somewhere around Chicago even though it's supposed to be St. Louis. I can't imagine Mrs. K and her daughter drove to St. Louis just to be extras in a movie. I haven't seen any information about that restaurant scene and I'm wondering if anyone can confirm where it was filmed. Oh, I should add that I also think this is one of the best holiday movies ever made.

I am 100% serious here. I was eating the last 3 bites of the Thanksgiving dinner I spent the day preparing. Yes I am late, it’s Dec 7th here and finding turkey was difficult, the Stove Top stuffing was brought to me from America. My over is so small I had to cut the turkey in half to get it to fit. It also heats like a Suzie Homemaker over so it took most if the day to cook. In the end it was quite good! began to scroll through YT and there was your video. Planes Trains and Automobiles is at the very top of my all time favorite movies and thank you for making my Thanksgiving Day extra special.

I was delighted to find out that the 'real' Baily Park was a new house development very near to where I grew up. It was an under construction subdivision near Montrose California, a suburb of Los Angeles. It was used as a location for the scene showing the Martini's moving into their new home. So Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed did a location shoot in my neighborhood! How cool is that? The neighborhood is still there (with a lot more trees), and is one of only two surviving locations used in the movie.

have you since started watching the original Black & White version, or you still always do the colorized? It kinda has to be in black and white. (a fun mashup could be you start the movie in black and white... but when he "gets his wish" it goes to color". Then when he prays that he gets his life back, it goes to black and white again... I get intuition would say make it the opposite, but his good old fashioned life where he's in love with Mary, and all his friends and family, really does need to be in black and white).
