KZbin just recommended me this video at the most interesting time. I found out a while back that shapeways was shutting down and then later remembered a few years ago I ordered some prints from what I'm pretty sure was your store on there. Only print option was white but when I did order stuff a few years back it was a set of the ball joint/axle hole style tohunga/mctoran hands. Never got around to painting them like I aimed to so I've just had the white hands on a takua moc I made using a mix of some custom matoran design I found instructions on google images from and some personal slight mods to it to try and make it more stable. Cool to see you got your own 3d printer and have been selling stuff for cheaper than shapeways' absurd upmarks lmao. No clue if you still have the models or not but I kinda would like to get some more of those hands in some other color sometime, and also these too/whatever else I see when I got the money for buying 3d printed stuff again.

Starting with Bionicle amd later moving to Gunpla, I have always thought that if possible I would to see some application of gunpla in bionicle, and this is an amazing step to that! They look a lot like the MG and PG fully articulated hands, but with that lego feel and honestly might be more stable Great job!

I don't look at those much, but I do think theres a lot I could implement from gunpla and a few of those others. I would need to discuss it a bit with someone more familiar with them

currently using modded bambus with pla parts are durable, but can still snap due to how small they are. I suspect that will still be a problem as I move into injection molding

If you're the designer, I'm curious: why not have a ball socket on both sides, so one piece can work for left or right hands? It would also allow extra connections for creative builds. (I don't design things like this, so ofc idk what kind of structural weaknesses that might add)
@kingsidorak4 ай бұрын
One of my older designs has this feature, and people kept asking for it to be filled in with an axle hole or bar hole so it's a bit more usable for holding some things that the fingers might interfere with when using the palm axle hole. A lot of people do like that double jointed version, I just need to make another file for that and make it an option

@@kingsidorakhey man, can i ask wich material i need to use? I want to replace the arms/legs of my ehlek and my hydraxon (yeap, they are broke)
@kingsidorak5 ай бұрын
@@jfgiro799 You can use PLA, but PETG or higher is usually better. For PETG you need an all metal hotend (not extruder, but that should be a must as well). For ABS you need an enclosure to make sure it doesn't warp, and a way to suck out the toxic fumes from your breathing or a well ventilated area There are other filaments, but it gets a lot harder, or more expensive
@ffffffffffffff436 ай бұрын
Hi I have a question. Do you print any basic socket connectors for arms in sets, like the lime green ones found in the 2007? And do you sell knockoffs or piece collections that correlate with sets? Like, for example I don’t have Mantax. Do you have a collection of pieces that I can buy as a “set” to build him? Thanks! Super interested in your work. I wish I could try it
@kingsidorak6 ай бұрын
I am able to print the sockets in lime green. I have plans to sell them on my site Sidorak.Store, and created my own socket design that should hopefully break less I do sell knockoff from a friend I have overseas, which is also on the site in the knockoff's section :)

@@kingsidorak sounds awesome! That would be a game changer in terms of moc making and collecting sets. Being able to buy sets 3d printed if they are unaffordable or broken used.
