They didn't have any demos in stock of the model I've been wanting, but their regular prices beat everywhere else I've looked so I ordered one from them anyway. I put a Vortex Strikefire II on my rifle when I bought it 9 years ago, saying, "I'm gonna use this until I can get an Eotech." Finally. 🙂

I am so glad I found your channel! Great review of your 14.5 CHF SOLGW! Their products are so good! I also not so great eyesight Lol, I have an astigmatism and a little near-sightedness. I am searching for the best option of optic for my 11.5" SOLGW AR Pistol! For close range out to 100 yards I take it you like the Eotech better than LVPO, Red Dot or a Primary Arms 1x prism?
@SapperGentleman8 күн бұрын
PA 1× prisms are great for their etched reticle and adjustable diopter. I just prefer the big-ass window that the Eotech gives. LPVOs are great for a do-all rifle, but this is my dedicated home defense rifle.

I have taken friends who have never handled an SA Colt Clon revolver and it was like asking a young teenager to call his mom from an old-fashioned rotary phone, he was completely lost. I just love these SA revolvers. I own a Pietta Western II 1873 in 357 / 9mm. PS I carry mine with 6 all day long because I know how well the first-notch safety works and I have complete trust in it, just as I trust my striker-fired autos because they also have a small notch in which the striker is held back until you pull the trigger. hell, it's even smaller than my Piettas's notch. also, it has been proven that it will not go bang if dropped like from waist level or chest level. Mechanical engineers have even hit the Hammer with a good-sized stick while in a vice at a range and the Hammer would not release and go bang. the steel components of yesteryear were inferior compared to today's modern steel components. So! I keep the five-dollar bill in my pocket and a sixth-round in the chamber. I also hit it with a hard rubber mallet while in a vice at the range and didn't even make a mark in the first notch after inspection. if I remember correctly it would take about 800 ft pounds of energy and maybe it might go boom, also it would have to be dropped from a second or third-story window onto concrete for the Hammer to rupture the trigger and notch assembly again MAYBE? the main reason that the manufacturers don't recommend for you to carry six is because of the many gun owners who buy guns and don't know how to use them properly and those people would carry six with the Hammer resting on a live primer! then we have a BANG PROBLEM! So they avoid lawsuits because they told you not to carry six. ( it's for the slackers that live in La La Land) I am a US Army Veteran from 1966 / 1969 and past LEO NYC, NY I am 76 years old and I have never shot myself in the foot yet! LOL moral of the story, know your weapons, know how they function, know what they are and are not capable of doing, and trust them ONLY WHEN YOU CAN TRUST IN YOURSELF! be safe and shoot straight!

Mike from SOLGW has been a member Primary and Secondary on Facebook since 2015 or so. When they first started. He had said their OEM wasn't who people think it was. When he was asked if the barrels were Ballistic Advantage. The internet is the internet. And he never dispelled the claims people made. The engraving on the older govt profile barrels was the telling sign they were Rosco. Rosco makes a much better barrel than Ballistic Advantage. I'm more than sure BCM uses Rosco on non CHF barrels. So does FN. Colt has OEM'd Rosco and Wilson Armament since way back. All R coded barrels on Colts are Rosco. When they couldn't make enough barrels themselves. These new V2 barrels are CHF. BA nor Rosco have a cold hammer forging machine. But the profile is eerily similar to a Hodge design. So that tells me FN. Mike is good friends with Jim Hodge. Jim Hodge works a lot with FN. They make all his 9310 barrels. The V2 barrels are QPQ and 11595E. There's mounting evidence that Ballistic Advantage barrels have a short service life. Ben Stoeger and Brass Facts have eatin' a few in short order. 6-10k. There's a lot of evidence that Rosco barrels have a long service life. Mihalski talked about having 10.3's at a machine gun rental range that they were seeing 20k+ service life. 100% full auto. And SOTAR has done autopsies of Rosco barrels with high round counts. Those are just a few. I think whomever BA is using for QPQ isn't doing a good job. There's really no empirical data on whether CHF is better longevity wise than button cut from turned down blanks. I think there's a lot of BS in the industry. And there is a lot of evidence that button cut is more accurate. Every higher end company uses Microbest it's not a secret. BCM, DD, SOLGW, FN and many others. They are the main .gov .mil supplier. Azimuth and AO Precision supply to the Government as well. I do think that SOLGW put together a nice rifle when all is said and done. Their pricing is high. Especially on their Broadsword and M89 rail built rifles. Even their lower end is higher. But they probably pay their people a living wage. And they do put money toward their 2A stance. So that's commendable.
@SapperGentleman21 күн бұрын
The engraving on this one immediately made me think, "Rosco".

@@SapperGentleman Very well could be. Fyi...The best barrels are Sionics( My opinion). Green mountain provides a lot of companies with 11595E cert blanks. Sionics has them drilled and chromed in AZ. And Sionics air gauges them and magnaflux them at their place. Very high tolerances. I have 5 of their barrels all MOA or better with good ammo. Both in QPQ and chrome lined flavors. About to add a 12.5 with 1/7 5R rifling to the mix.

I had a BA Hanson 14.5 and thought I was insane for shooting it out in 7000 rounds but this gives a lot of context to a situation I may not have understood as well as I thought. I expected 10K from that barrel before it really started to open up and at 7k rounds it was shooting 6" groups at 100 yards with M193 and 77gr was around 4". Flipped that upper and got a SOLGW 13.7 Nitride barrel and have been happy with it. Thanks for the detailed info.

Came to see the Dawson charger sight but found a cool sight pusher I can make. One trick I've learned as a mechanic is to freeze one part and heat the other. In this case I'd throw the sight in the freezer for 20-30 and apply a little heat, maybe 180° to the upper (too much might ruin the channel liner). Might save having to file. Good vid

You should the bul armory tomahawk line up. I have 2 shadow systems a mr920 elite and a xr920 elite. The ergonomics feel about the same to me and both have great stippling the bul is a little better in my opinion. But for me the real difference is the trigger. The tomahawk’s trigger is leaps and bounds better than the shadow systems. Also they cost about half what the elite shadow systems goes for. They are pretty close to foundation prices.
