"I hope have found this useful, I know it's long" - that's what he said Rifle looks great! I might have to pick up one of those stencils and play around

Hey, kind of an unrelated question, but I've been picking my friend's brains about this lately. I'm thinking I might one day want to build out an AR10 for shits and giggles, and for an optics setup I was thinking of going with something like a Vortex Venom 1-6x24 sfp in a Badger Ordnance C1 or Reptilia AUS mount like you have here, possibly with a piggybacked dot. At first blush it seems kind of weird putting a cheap scope in an expensive mount, but I've been mulling it for a while, and it seems to me like the point of diminishing returns kicks in a *lot* faster for scopes than it does for mounts. My friends tell me that you can pay 5x more for a Razor and maybe get a few nicer features like a brighter reticle and slightly better glass, but there's nothing 'slight' about a 400% price increase. Meanwhile, a cheap mount might not hold zero very well, and lack other features like the ability to hang accessories off it like a backup red dot. Basically, I figure there's two ingredients in any optics set up - the optic itself, and the mount, and the mount is the more important of the two. Because if you're working within a budget, you can put an okay optic in a good mount and hit what you're aiming at, but you can put the best optic in the world in a shit mount and not hit anything. Am I on the right track here?

@@Pyreleaf I totally track your logic. Also, if you want to step up to a higher-end optic down the road, you already have the solid mount.
