I live in Washington with an 86 4Runner having that same issue and looking to fix, it was intermittent for awhile then now it just won’t turn over

@@greygreenough5505 Yeah that happened to my '87 too. Sometimes unplugging the relay and plugging it back in would work but it got to the point where it was just constantly doing it. If your local to me feel free to bring it by or ask any questions you need and we can get you sorted.

@@raynermadsen5698 thanks man! What I would try first is a product called cataclean they sell it at any auto parts store. Just pour it in the gas tank and drive it around a bit. If that doesn't work you might have to actually take the catalytic converter out and wash it out with hot water and dawn dish soap.

Yeah Thanks man wiring makes my head hurt but I looked at it just seemed too easy . Basically bypassed all the Bs. Unfortunately I already had purchased an expensive used relay. I used the same starter for ten years aftermarket then went through 3 in six months one was bad out of the box second one lasted a month and then I the third one was going it seemed to lock up at times still think the solenoid could be hanging up but its very random and at 50 im just get too old to pop start my rig, so anyways thanks for the info

I wanted to brighten my speedometer for years but afraid I'd have to spend hours tearing apart the dash to replace the bulbs. After viewing your video I tackled the project. I wish I knew before how easy it would be. Knowledge is power. It was helpful to loosen up the speedometer cable before removal of the instrument panel. Thank you!

The other video I watched about replacing the fuel filter, the guy broke the fuel lines, so you did great. I ordered some flare nut crowfoot wrenches so I should be all set.

I plan on doing this with my vehicle, but doesn't this cause it to run lean? Like the O2 sensor is used to getting that much extra air, when it stops getting it doesn't it make it go rich?

No as far as know The computer will just adjust mixture accordingly. All the air injection/ egr system does is make the burn a little cleaner by injecting a little fresh air into the cylinders for cleaner burn.

Well that was interesting I haven't seen one those in decades, I can tell that's not the original carb and there is a block off plate where the fuel pump should be. I worked at Toyota when those trucks were around and rebuilt tons of carbs, before fuel injection came out..

It's an aftermarket Weber 38/38 but I still do have the original mechanical fuel pump. The block off plate you see in the video is the EGR block off.

I would guess it's original so that would mean it has about 286,000 miles on it. This is my 1987 4x4 daily driver. And I don't know how many owners it's had but when I got it definitely had a lot of it's original parts. 😂😅

I’ve tried running the wire directly to the harness and it worked. However, it’s more of a temporary solution because I started having the same problem again after about 2 years. I am now looking for a more permanent solution but I am also reluctant to get a ford relay in there. This looks like a great idea and it looks very clean and factory. Thank you for sharing!

Yes there is It's the fuse labeled as "TAIL" in the fuse box under the dash. If that's good you most likely want to look into the tail light relay or the rheostat for the dimmer.

Runs just fine. I assume you could do it on an automatic too shouldn't really make a difference. As far as gas mileage goes I can't say I've noticed an increase or decrease.

Got a 38mm Weber on a LCE stage 2 stroker..(160hp).Only problem is it blows up G and W transmissions...had to find a R151F and it cost me big along with a V6 diff....Anyone installing a Weber remember they only need 2.5 to 4 psi fuel pressure(OEM pump is 7 psi), anything more and they run very rich and cant tune... Before you cut up any wires make sure the rely is totally bad, Ive opened one and cleaned the contacts and fixed it....

That is a very good question... I couldn't tell you. I live in a state where we don't require emissions. But I would say most likely not if you live in California.

I did this and my check engine light disappeared. But my idle still surges up and down when I press the brake pedal, it started doing that after I did my timing chain and guides. Good video by the way.

Several things you might want to check. Throttle position sensor adjustment. Coolant level/make sure there is no air in the cooling system. Vacuum leaks/The condition of the o-ring that goes around the throttle body idle adjustment screw. All those things can give you a looping idle. If it happened after you did the timing chain I would guess that you probably have a little air in the cooling system.

@@archaicautomotive2444I seemed to have fixed my surging idle. My engine was idling at 1,600 rpm once it was warm and I figured out how to adjust it. Once I adjusted it to run at 1,000 rpm I no longer have the surging idle problem.

My only critique, coming from someone who has no idea what they are doing is sometimes it was zoomed so close I couldnt tell where exactly on the engine you were working and the words sometimes got in the way of seeing what you were doing but I still think Ill be able to figure it out from watching this.
