wow. it would be priceless to go down to some small venue being swept into something like this again, like your body and soul remembers exactly what it was, just hearing it takes you back to places and faces and details from way back when.. just glad to have been there, pre brit-pop, they were really extraordinarily brilliant

@@curtisskate they went a bit MOR mid 90s. Those first few singles, EPs and LP in 92 and 93 plus the This Is Music single in 95 were great. I rapidly lost interest after This Is Music.

thefriendlyforum wordpress has the bootleg for download. the quality of the soundcheck where this comes from is pretty poor though even without youtube's compression. would be interested to hear anything you can do to improve the quality though. good luck

So, I was at this show and to tell you the truth, as good as this show was, on July 31st, 1995 The Verve played here at Saint Andrew’s Hall in Detroit and it was BY FAR the best Verve concert I have ever attended by the Verve or any other band. That concert changed my life. I also have a decent recording of it. Richard played The Drugs Don’t Work acoustic and wow….

I was there. Didn't have tickets either, because I was an early Verve fan, and didn't understand the direction they took with Urban Hymns. Met buddy at a record store, and he said, "Wanna go downtown and see if we can get Verve tickets?" And I thought eh, why not. Glad I didn't let my initial dislike for their new material to influence my decision because it was one of the best shows of my life.
