If you like this track I'd highly recommend checking out two other tracks they recorded during the Forth reunion. "All Night Long" is a similar sounding, carefree jam and was released as a b-side to their last ever single. And check out "Blue Pacific Ocean", a majestic gem, which wouldn't sound out of place on their first album, A Storm In Heaven

The Verve at their most mature and free. Ashcroft's first lyric, improvised, is 'and in the end, all we've got, is love'. Out of all the English guitar bands, The Verve are the one I go back to the most.

Simons bassline is what carries this magnificent track. It’s like being at sea 🌊

This was the best piece of music they released from that reunion, so good. The Verve jamming is the Verve at their best imo. When I saw them in '97 I got to the venue real early (the 9;30 club DC) It was a hot day so the doors in the back were open and you could hear the boys just jamming, Nick's delayed guitar echoing off the buildings on the street. Free form improv heaven like this track for about 20 minutes straight. It was even better than the show itself imo

How lucky you were to be able to see them. I hope that one day they meet again

These show were professionally recorded because some of them appear on the UH Deluxe. I just hope that we got the whole concert and maybe even this jam. Because as far as I know I’ve never heard an Jam of them during the UH era
@nealeshaffer31402 жыл бұрын
@@Gabriel-zk9gb It was them doing a soundcheck in the afternoon before they played that night. I dont know if they would have recorded their sound check but they did use "Stormy Clouds" from this show for the live VHS Verve the video. There was a sign when you first walked into the 9:30 club letting people know that they were recording the show
@Gabriel-zk9gb2 жыл бұрын
@@nealeshaffer3140 oh wow i didn’t even catch that in the video. But then again it’s a shame that those shows at their creative peak are sitting somewhere in a vault. I mean some tracks were released from the 9:30 club on the UH Deluxe but a full release with the footage would be more than I could ever ask for

Saw them at the Hollywood Palace when they released Northern Soul. One of the best concerts I've been to. Somehow I missed on this session. Awesome.

Deep Freeze is also an utterly gorgeous piece of music, since there's a link to it in the title of this jam.

Gorgeous. And somehow better than anything they produced in the entire period during which they were reformed. They couldn't wrestle Ashcroft's hand off the tiller and he always ended up sailing back to shore instead of out to sea. Shame really.

Really good analogy. Yes, RA played it safe at points. NM wanted to take them somewhere else. NM apparently wanted to play a lot more Storm in Heaven tracks on the 07 reunion tour but RA wasn’t having any of it.
@garyglowacki1071 Жыл бұрын
I pretty much agree, although there is one song from the reformation I like even better, and ironically it wasn't even on Forth. That's the awesome b-side Ma Ma Soul. For whatever reason they always held back some of their best material for b-sides.

@@garyglowacki1071 Definitely. A Man Called Sun somehow never made it onto an album. I'll have to track that song you mentioned down.

Love The Verve's music. There was another video on KZbin and it had the same image but it was an hour long with tracks like Major Force, Mover, All Night Long, Blue Pacific Ocean and many more. Not able to find it since a few weeks
