@@Matt_Chow I played Esper Pokepile instead - the deck felt good on Friday, going 4-1 and only losing to a Moon Stompy build with 8 red blasts in the 75. That type of deck is also something that suits my personal playstyle a lot more. The main issue was really that I lost to Grixis Delver twice in the big event because I hadn't practiced the matchup at all and took the wrong approach in my games.

Grixis Delver is almost always my nemesis haha

Yeah I actually think you’re right, I think I was conflating pre-board and post-board games. In preboard Eldrazi is faster and more likely to have kept a 7 card hand, meaning that they can power through Reanimation if they have the battlemage to bounce it. However during post-board games they are much slower and less consistent due to mulliganing for hate, so any target is usually sufficient.

I never published the piece, but I went through and reviewed every MH3/M3C card prior to release and Nulldrifter was a something I was extremely wrong about. For the life of me I couldn’t figure out how to cheat it into play, fully missing the interaction with Stifle and Dress Down 😂 I’m glad you got a cool new tool for Stiflenought!

@@Matt_Chow Stifle/Dressdown/Doorkeeper Thrull. And the thing with the Thrull is, he prevents ETB, but the Nulldrifter's 2 cards are cast trigger, not ETB. So u get the cards anyway, even when countered

I think I’ve seen a couple lists with 1 copy of Step Through, but in general, Breakfast is a very tight 60 cards these days.

It’s a good idea that I hadn’t considered, especially because of the Sam synergy. The opportunity cost of another non-blue, non basic land might be too high though, the manabase already felt a kinda greedy.

That’s certainly a possibility. I imagine it would have to be in one of the MH3 Commander decks as that level of fast mana is likely too much for Modern to absorb. The overall metagame and card choices made in top performing lists has so much depth to it, so understanding it can be difficult to grasp at a cursory glance. Something that I think gets lost in Magic discourse is how player preference and play-style can vastly impact what decks an individual can or will succeed with. @@Matt_Chow dont have a list but a friend plays it as a control deck but with the chance of beating combo doing narset+days. the list would be more or less the one u played, swapping both get lost to play the days undoing. i'd probably also cut a snappy to add a surveil land or mystic sanctuary. 1-2 lorien would also be great :)
