If I had the ability to change names I would keep the word "America" as a name of our country to honor Amerigo Vespucci but I would change the continent name from North America to "Columbia" to honor Christopher Columbus and I would let the South American people change their continent name from South America to whatever they want it to be. We must think, at the time there was not modern medicine and knowledge as we have it now. You can get sick eating pork and especially if it's not cooked correctly as with many things.
