This is so inspiring to watch; I LOVE such treks as these, reminds me of my own such roughly 45 years ago, in Central Africa, when it was wilder than it is now; both with animals, poor roads, and civil unrest. ( Dealing with the Idi Amin's Ugandan war against Tanzania.) When travel becomes constricted, you at times have to find other things to keep busy with, awaiting transportation capability. Still that your vehicle could handle such as you do in Aus holds your adventures in good stead!

Does the Manometer have its own filter? 😮Does it get blocked? or do you do a pre-test check of meter, to see if meters filter is working OK?
@UnimogAdventures29 күн бұрын
No sure, but no air flows through it, it just reads pressure in the line. I think the thin plastic hose ( 2mm inside) makes very sensitive to any minor change, so I'm thinking of adding a section of bigger pipe inline to dampen out some of the changes. It was not an expensive one, and I need to find the manual, maybe it can do averages as well. .
@krystiankinalski6944Ай бұрын
Do you know where contected heating system to make hot inside in the cabin?
@UnimogAdventures10 күн бұрын
It is the two 19mm hoses near the thermostat, and they go to into the heater right at the back of the engine bay, hard to see as they are underneath and right at the back.
@coqulationАй бұрын
Mines running 40psi and the red restriction marker pops with a brand new filter, so it is restrictive but maybe not for the standard 10psi.
@coqulationАй бұрын
I haven't tried the foam air filter upgrade yet but that's the next one I'll get.
@UnimogAdventuresАй бұрын
Ours runs at 20PSI. so will be interesting to measure it on the road at full load. Hopefully we can do that today.
@alec1202Ай бұрын
Thats great to actually measure it rather than going by feel. Because we normally think it feels faster even when it doesnt

i will never again buy those 3mm thin flexible panels , they all go opaque and stop producing power . absolute loss :(
@UnimogAdventuresАй бұрын
Yes, they worked fine for the first year, but then not so good after that. Hopefully the new ones last longer - they have a 20 year performance warranty
@heartobefeltАй бұрын
@@UnimogAdventures my first pair went opaque and stopped producing any voltage after 2 years but the seller had disappeared , another store claimed their new ones have an improved coating which would never go opaque so i bought 4 of those for $ 650 , 2 years later they also were opaque / milky but they only had a 1 year warranty ..... Never again a flexible panel . live n learn ... LOL *** Thanks for posting :)

Plus, it is ideal to get off the track because you just don't know if some numbnuts is trying to pass the road train. Take care out there.
@UnimogAdventuresАй бұрын
Yes, we have seen some people do some stupid things out there.
@martinfinn674Ай бұрын
When one truck passes you in the opposite direction it is best to remain stationary until you have good visibility down the track. You never know if there is a second truck following the first. The second will normally hang back in the zone where the dust has settled, but there is no guarantee of this. Best to use your two way on channel 40 to listen to and/or communicate with the first truck.
@UnimogAdventuresАй бұрын
Yes, on this road they were about 5 minutes apart, and about 5 of them.

Go the Mighty Merc! I also drive a Mercedes-Benz van. Its a baby compared to your Mog, and only 2 wheel drive. Saying that, i did get out to Mary Kathleen mine...Now that is a track to challenge any four wheel drive. Or 6 wheel drive for that matter.

Lucky the Unimog has a very big air filter, and Iain always keeps the revs at idle in the dust clouds to minimise the amount of dust that get sucked in.

Isn’t that funny I’ve just seen a clip about bagging bad drivers that pulled over for road trains ,complaining about not enough room to get in between them and-the trains and the people on the side .
