3 for the island

I vote for a standalone island chopping block. Maybe on lockable casters with storage underneath. Big project but you could get a pretty penny for it.
@deadwoodcastingturning5 ай бұрын
That’s two votes for the island
@DougMilleratWoodSpunRound5 ай бұрын
Reall depends on the dimensions. I am a turner more than anything else, so I would be looking for how I can get the most/best turning projects out of it. If it were mine, I’d get the 2 largest blanks I could put of it for bowls or plates. The rest would become small bowls and/or boxes. BTW, I suspect this is maple rather than pine. But looks can be deceiving.
@deadwoodcastingturning5 ай бұрын
That actually gives me an idea, I could do the two platter blanks and then square and glue the left overs together for an hybrid piece

Holy crap, the channel is still alive lol. I vote for an island but add a hole in a corner/ side for chopping waste.

Yes, that was definitely an issue. Since then I have done some research and have figured out a system to reduce and possibly eliminate snipe

I just made my 1st batch of friction polish, I used 1 part bees wax, 2 part carnauba wax and 4 parts mineral oil. I also used those little cups, like the ones you get sauces at the Chinese restaurants in.

@alf3071 Жыл бұрын
can u use wood ash instead of that earth?
@MD-en3zm Жыл бұрын
It’s not going to be as hard, but you might get some burnishing effect as you can use wood shavings to do it. You can always try - but also, the ash may stain wood. DE is really cheap and edible so I’d go that route.
@deadwoodcastingturning Жыл бұрын
I'm sure it would work, BUT it would not make it food safe. Thats why I go with the DE

Your video helped me today but I do want to offer a little advice from a viewers perspective. Just a tiny bit of "nice" criticism. If you were to plan out a script in advance to follow could help you shorten the processes a bit and keep the viewers intrest. People are horrible with patience. I know this because I can exsplain things like that. 👍 For KZbin sake it helps to get to the point when making tutorials. Plus you won't need as much editing which can be time consuming and tricky for some. But like I said, your vid helped me today. I made a one application buff and polish paste with baby oil, spakeling, and melted surfboard wax made from beeswax lololol 😆. But you know what! It actually really turned out and did an amazing job on my truck. Thank you 😊
@deadwoodcastingturning2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, josh i'm glad that this helped you, and thank you for your advice. I have been kicking around the idea of some kind of script for my videos.
