She may have stopped getting as many opportunities after angering people but she hardly "dropped off the face of the planet." She has worked consistently since she made those statements in 2007, all while raising kids and starting a family, with a movie or TV show every year except the year she gave birth in 2016. She wasn't wrong with her statements and it was a ridiculous thing to be blackballed over. She is just stating the truth. Look at KZbin. The most popular channels with the most subscribers are the absolute worst content like PewDiePie and people watching each other play video games or the Kardashians. People who create thoughtful, beautiful, high quality content have relatively few followers. The masses want McDonald's, not organic, gourmet cuisine. Likewise, the shows that are often most popular are dumbed down for the low IQ masses and intelligent actors become performing monkeys, giving the people what they want. When they do anything too intellectual or edgy or anything that challenges people's addiction to thinking highly of themselves, these people who are of average intelligence don't get it and take offense. She was entitled to her opinion and personal perspective. She was just stating facts and it triggered the shame of the idiots. The bottom line is people don't like being told that the things they want may be stupid, unethical or wrong in some way. It triggers fear and shame and then they go on the attack, as these guys even showed a few times in this clip.

well she questioned why women in movies are often portrayed as boring and tightass, while men are depicted as goofy and lovable. she expressed her desire for equal rights in the industry, then she was excluded

Male actors literally talk shit about their work LOL. Even Robert Pattinson made fun of his character that HE played in twilight. This actress’ flaw was that she was a woman with an opinion.

She’s been in 7 different things since this video was made. So doesn’t seem to be true that writers hate her enough to never write for her.

I'm reading so many of these comments, and just feeling sick to my stomach man. It's honestly so scary and disappointing how easy it is for people to trash someone from behind a screen. Thats just sad. Thousands of people just up and deciding the worth of a person without having really taken any time to recognize their humanity therefore their imperfection. Just to write them off because of any and every superficial reason you could come up with. It's a shame really. Ya'll don't know her and have not been in her shoes... whether they're Gucci or hand-me-down shouldn't matter. I'm so tired of jaded bitter people trashing someone because they have money or they're famous. They're still people. And if you had any self-respect, you'd be above hating on someone for such petty reasons. They have lives that sometimes rock and sometimes suck like the rest of us. Wanna talk about someone not thinking about how their words impact people...the freaking irony is outrageous. Imagine if a shyt ton of strangers decided you weren't worthy of compassion or respect or happiness because you did or said something they felt was irreproachable. I mean look, there are mistakes made that are so far over the line of what's right and wrong that a struggle for forgiveness or empathy is understandable. This is not that. If as an actor she felt she wasn't worthy of nomination based on her work, whether due to performance or writing or both, that's absolutely within her right to feel that way. And as a free citizen it's her right to express that. And the fact that she was willing to act on that and not want to win as a popularity contest, but rather for her talent and effort, I think is fair and the decent thing to do. There have been plenty of actors that have admitted some of their work felt disappointing to them. Sometimes for their performance and sometimes because the writing sucked... And as we've all seen so much lately writing can definitely suck. That show is not perfect, it's had its ups and downs like all things. Even the best actor can only do so much with less than stellar material. Also, if it was an ego thing, are ya'll really going to act like Katheirne Heigl is the only one to ever make a potentially bad decision based on ego... Those without fault please step forward and throw the first stone...🤨😒😑

I get how her comments were hurtful but I think the pattern has been she wanted more written for the characters she's played. It's not a personal dig at the writers' talent in general.

Two complete asshats that have no respect for what she did. There was a writers strike during Season 4 of Grey’s Anatomy, and along with the season being 10 episodes shorter than the others, many characters were hardly included, Katherine’s being one of them. Actors do this all the time. She just decided to make it public, and people like Joe and Bill just think she’s ungrateful, when really she probably helped contribute to the show getting much better from that point on. Same can be said for Knocked Up, and how she publicly panned it for its over reliance on lazy, misogynist, comedy. Absolute legend

I liked her as an actress. She has talent and is simply gorgeous. Mesmerizing smile, silky voice on top of which she is a beautiful woman who can do comedy. Unfortunately, like many actors she doesn't stop to think before running her mouth. She doesn't think about how her words will affect her colleagues. She SHOULD'VE known better or asked before declining an award and pissing on the writers like she did.

So is it about to criticize writing of a show even if your an actor working on and is it really bad for wanting to work with great writing overall if the said writing was turn to be OBJECTIVELY not that great?

I am as far as you can get from a Heigl fan, but hang on just a minute. She could have worked it differently. but essentially she was correct. The writing on :Grey's Anatomy" was really not compelling, to say the least. No hate. Still, it is weird to think of rise and FALL...if we take any perspective, Heigl is richer than, I bet, most of us will ever be.
