I thought it was funny how Heigl totally shitted on Rogen and everyone else involved in 'Knocked Up' when it'll probably go down as her best work. And if she didn't wanna be in the movie for ideological reasons, like she said after the fact, well, I doubt she was forced to take that role.

I actually looked it up. It was not because it was a shitty film, its because they ran it for a week at a single theatre at noon. The reason for running it that was to fulfill a requirement. Burr was right. I also think that this is what happens when you surround yourself with yes-people. You get that echo chamber where everybody agrees with you and nobody challenges you and next thing you know, you're telling Variety that the writers on your show suck. Her manager should have squashed that out of the gate. Like somebody else mentioned here, she also did the same thing with Knocked Up. Never bite the hand that feeds you. Never burn a bridge. Just keep moving forward to better things. Then at the end of your career, THEN you write the tell-all and shit on everybody.
@laurocoman Жыл бұрын
Yeah. Killing the momentum on the projects YOU ARE ALREADY IN is bad for everyone. Dozens of people if not hundreds were involved in Grey's Anatomy and Knocked Up and they needed them to succeed for further sindication. You are basically telling future employers "the whole thing better be good or I'm gonna take a dump on you on national television right away!" Look at Pattinson taking a dump on Twighlight or half of the people involved in Blade: Trinity or Batman & Robin. The deed is done and you can look back at it more openly when there is no one to be harmed. It's just selfish to take a dump on a project that could still be successful when so many people depend on it... and IT GAVE YOU MONEY.

@@pranavnnair5I disagree. I self centered person won't care about anyone's perception, narcissism is a psychological issue. We don't have access to her mental health, therefore a "self centered" label in my opinion, would fit better.

A bit overstated to say Katherine dropped off completely. Maybe more aptly one might say metaphorically she went "straight to video"...she certainly found work. Not unusual for many actors to drop off the screen--find other types of work in the industry or change careers entirely.

well she questioned why women in movies are often portrayed as boring and tightass, while men are depicted as goofy and lovable. she expressed her desire for equal rights in the industry, then she was excluded

I liked her as an actress. She has talent and is simply gorgeous. Mesmerizing smile, silky voice on top of which she is a beautiful woman who can do comedy. Unfortunately, like many actors she doesn't stop to think before running her mouth. She doesn't think about how her words will affect her colleagues. She SHOULD'VE known better or asked before declining an award and pissing on the writers like she did.

This reminds me of how Hugo Weaving picked up the lead roll in V for Vendetta. The actor originally cast insisted on a scene with his face showing. This was a deal breaker for the Warcheski's. (I mean who would listen to them, it's not like any one remembers the Matrix?) Being on short notice they grabbed Weaving because he would not only follow direction but could put life into a character with no face and almost no back story.

Just look at Christopher Walken. Dude is a household name and has been super famous for decades, but he will agree to any old trash movie just because it looks like fun and he is by all accounts a very cool dude to work with. I'm not going to single out Heigl, because she is one of many actors that think they are owed fame and success.

That's really not a whole lot over a 7 year period, and almost none of it had any notoriety (the Nut Jobs are the most noteworthy things she's done), when she was originally being set up as the next big thing, rather than just churning out a few second rate things that don't even register.

You're absolutely correct in pointing out she is hardly destitute or finished in the industry. But if you recall how she was being trumpeted as the next IT GIRL around 2008, like Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock in the 1990's, and Jennifer Lawrence 5-6 years ago, it's equally clear she has fallen well short of the predictions. After Knocked Up, she seemed to have Hollywood in her hand, able to demand huge salaries for movies. In the past four years, she has done sleep aid and kitty litter commercials, which I highly doubt she saw in her future a decade ago. After a decade of ridicule and people feeling Schadenfreude over her self-inflicted difficulties, I think fair-minded people should root for her climbing back to A-List status, IF she and her Momager have ditched the diva routine on sets. It would make a great cautionary tale for young actors/actresses, with a happy ending. She isn't without good attributes, adopting children and actively involved in animal rescues/rights.

Maybe she didn't feel comfortable with the material that was presented to her and her publicist tried to word it in a way that was neither here nor there. Katherine and her mother are outstanding people, genuine and kind hearted. I love Joe, but sometimes, maybe it's best to not judge people you don't know personally.
@sportshistorybuff6 жыл бұрын
Maybe Heigl and her mother are great to be friends with, but there are too many sources in Hollywood to ignore, film crew members and directors who have spoken emphatically that she became plutonium for work based on her diva demands and her mother's abusive behavior on film sets. One producer was quoted as saying he had multiple script proposals on his desk at that moment that Heigl would have been perfect for but the consensus among executives was she wasn't worth the aggravation, holding up projects with complaints, demanding the best rooms in hotels as if she was a veteran A-list box office star. .
