What would you say is the reason that you can't use only a midvalve to do all the compression damping without any restriction in the base valve at all?

This is exactly what I needed! I once dreamed of working in the suspension industry but was met with gatekeepers and old salts who bragged about how great they were but wouldn’t share. It totally turned me off of it. They lost a capable successor to their business. Now I work in a different industry and am happy to share with others just like you have here. Cheers!

Would you rather have a 43mm closed cartridge fork or a 48mm open cartridge fork in enduro-esk situations? I'm looking to upgrade my stock 43mm suspension which has no adjustments on the forks. The 2 choices are between ordering xplor 240mm suspension & then spring them or get tractive closed cartridge 240mm dropins for my current 43mm forks and their shock to match.
@StepstoPodium17 күн бұрын
That is a really good question! I think that if the open cartridge option are the xplor, maybe I'd go with the CC 43mm
@houjous513110 күн бұрын
@StepstoPodium here's another weird question for you. How hard is it to mix & match off-brand parts? Rebelx sells a kyb 48mm fork for t700 that was shown off by pol tarrer at romaniacs this year. Is it possible to retrofit that to fit a ktm? It probably seems like I'm overdoing with the fatti-boi but for some reason I decided this is the bike I want to use when I go out west & check out the harder trails like the 5 miles of hell. So I'm spending gobs of time researching, money building the bike & time at the gym doing squats, deadlifts, and cardio 😭

Brilliant video! Very much appreciated! My fcr carb bike idles fine, but part throttle is very hesitant/stumbling. I assume I have to readjust the sliding needle to lean it out a bit as it smells rich and popping occasionally too. Part throttle riding is pretty bad as the bike doesn't like settling at any given rpm. It likes idling, and likes going fast. Nothing in between. Tried giving it bigger main jet but it ran and stumbling even worse. If anyone had any ideas what may be wrong with it, or what should I try doing to it, let me know! 2008 klx450r, fcr-mx42 carb

Spent all day changing jets, moving needle, etc. Most of problems went instantly away once realized my spark plug tip was damaged. After giving the plug proper gap, larger main jet and dropping red needle couple notches, it starts easier, almost doesn't pop, runs very nicely part throttle again and turns rear tire into a dust factory on any abrupt throttle twist. Your video helped me looking for problems and making decisions, so thank you very much again!

I've going through your videos, graet stuff. Thanks. I have a question, what makes the twechey filling of my off road bike, on the highway? It's simple the light weight ? Or something in the basic geometry? Is it possible to solve it simple by tuning the suspension different? Thanks

thank you! It might be from geometry and/or suspension setup. But to help you further I would have to have the bike/suspensions to understand the setup....

Love the video, really informative. There is just one thing I don't get, shouldn't the slope of the high speed compression be smaller then the slope of the low speed comrpession? Don't know much about suspension, so I might very well be wrong
@StepstoPodiumАй бұрын
If you don't have more damping generates as the speed of compression increases, it will blow through the stroke. Remember that speed of compression has nothing to do with suspension stroke used.
@user-vo8ij2jj4rАй бұрын
@@StepstoPodium Thanks for the quick reply! That makes sense and I get that we are not talking about the stroke, just the speed. I thought that the high speed compression was more like a pressure release. The damping would still increase/velocity but not as quickly as in the the low speed. I haven't watched all your suspension videos yet, but I definitly will! If you haven't touched the topic yet, I would be really interested in knowing which scenarios are high speed and which are low speed For example is braking low speed but an emergency braking scenario high speed? Of course it all depends on the setup but some idea of where to draw the line would be interesting
