I am adamantly opposed to Metra coming to Huntley. Like, you, I am all for growth and development, but this is a very bad idea. We don't need this. We are opening the door to a lot of problems.... Crime, vagrancy, people getting off the train that don't live here and not respectful of our community, property, business and people. We have a great town, great amenities and great people. I fear that our town will be victimized, and people are going to be taken advantage of. I also don't think its fair, right, responsible to add this to our police and fire departments. I hope this doesn't happen!

Do you have any information supporting this claim that the train will bring crime and vagrancy? There's no data that supports any upticks of crime with the Metra line coming in. It's understandable change can be scary. But there's infinite amounts of data that can show you what is likely to happen as opposed to what you fear will happen.

My wife and I recently ran the Chicago Marathon. When we did our 20 mile run we were able to find bike path routes through Lake InThe Hills and Huntley that were all interconnected. Granted it was running there and back a lot.

My kids went to D-300. Looking back, D-158 Huntley is better. By far. D300 has gone insane.

I lived in lake in the hills for a few years, You forgot. Hilltop beach right across the lake, And you can only go to the beach if your a local, But you can bring guests

I was born and raised in this place. I moved out around 2019, but I still hold a lot of nostalgia for many of the locations mentioned here. especially Costco, gotta love Costco.

Its a shame they are losing the farmland/open land on the edge of Del Webb and it's being replaced by warehouses, factories, etc... It's too bad the community doesn't have more of a buffer to preserve the country-like atmosphere of the area. I would think the properties near Dahmer drive are being negatively impacted by this development. It would have made more sense to isolate/locate these industrial/commercial properties to locations such as where the failed Huntley Factory Mall was formerly located. Different subject: Home Owners Association obligations/differences with townhome vs. single family home are worth noting. I hear townhome HOA is more expensive (like $350+/mo) because they cover all exterior aspects of home whereas, the single family owner is stuck with all the bills and the hoa ($150+) just covers amenities. The amount these fees could increase is also a concern (especially for fixed-income seniors) given increasing costs of insurance and maintenance of the community.

Huntley is absolutely beautiful. When my buddy and I took a trip to Chicago a few years ago, we spent an afternoon on Huntley. Living in Genesee County, MI, Huntley is very similar to to communities such as Fenton (where I teach), Flushing, and Grand Blanc. You have community feel with convenience of suburban lifestyle.
