Hi Dimitry, thank you for your review but it would be great if you paid more attention to details and accuracy, for example @2:05 talking about "electrostatic effect of camera" - those stickers have nothing to do with interference they are used for easy mounting of camera on the windscreen allowing for easy repositioning and later removal. If you use them then you won't need double sided sticky tape from Bunnings you mentioned later @2:30. Then at @3:44 you mention "slot for the memory card" but then 10 seconds later you make a slip referring the card as SIM card instead of microSD/memory card.

Appreciate the corrections. I never pretend to be a pro reviewer - as there are plenty of those. I offer a casual perspective of someone who will buy one of these cameras or whatever else I review and the first impressions those people will get. Arguably, every bit and detail is not as important, but I'm thankful for you pointing those incorrect statements out to me regardless.

What do you think about toyota dash cam , i have a 2024 yaris ( assuming that its not available in us ) i live in spain Here in spain they dont sell the toyotas dash cam , but i can get it from outside and fit it in myself or a dealer will do it for me . I belive its a good fit as already the cables and … are there for it ( goes directly next to the rear mirror.

I bought DDPai N5 Dual + radar after watching your video. Unfortunately, I am having problems with this dashcam. Firstly, DDPai N5 will restart by itself for no apparent reason. It can happen a few times a day.

I have a Toyota C-HR that has the screenshot you mentioned but when I connect my phone by wire or blue tooth, it does not show car play or Android. Hey Dimitri, what are your thoughts on a CarlinKit Tbox Max (Ambient)? Do you think the Carabc H3 is a better device? 5G compared to Carlinkit being 4G? Both use a Qualcomm processors but the Carlinkit uses a SM6225. Is it much of a muchness but the price of the Carabc compared to the Carlinkit is too hard to ingnor?

Apologies for late reply. Hmmm, I guess you could but why would you - it's built for the outside AND it's quality is kinda low. So behind the glass, inside, it would not produce a particularly good quality video. But nothing would stop you from doing it of course.

My opinion as someone who's directly hardwired ddpai n5 dual in their car's fusebox. In short you need hardwire kit (direct/obd) to use parking mode. You need radar to extend parking mode. With hardwire kit you can get mostly upto 24hr of recording in timelapse recording (unless you have ev which is essentially a big battery) before low voltage cutoff kicks in. So, if you drive daily for at least an hour you would be fine mostly. But, if you intend to leave your car parked any longer than 24hrs, it might be better to get the radar module. By my calculations according to ddpai's claim of 87% lower power consumption (wrt timelapse mode) for every every day of timelapse parking mode would translate to around 7 days of radar based parking mode. I have a vw polo and parking mode in timelapse was lasting quite less than a day in my car. So i isolated the dashcam from main car battery using cellink neo8+s, which lasts me 24-25 hours of parking mode in timelapse on ddpai n5 dual. I've also ordered radar module to extend the duration of parking mode because i don't want to have to drive daily just to charge the auxiliary battery to keep the parking mode. Will let you know what results i get from using radar.

Radar arrived today, installed and functional. Radar mode, median current draw is 10-20 mA (135-270mw). Detects upto ~3 feet to the back of the car and about 6-8 feet in the front of the car. Once detected, it takes upto 5 seconds to turn the camera on. If it detects the object still present within 20 seconds of turning on, it starts recording in timelapse mode (didn't time how long it stays on like that, but website says that it's upto half an hour). If there is minimal activity around the car, this setup can last for a couple of weeks by my calculations. (on my 7500mAh auxiliary battery).

I always suggest OBD Kits so much safer and easier and will work in most EV's as well and their are several 3rd party ones but the DDPAI One is probably the best OBD Kit! I also Suggest replacing all your car fuses (as much as possible!) with Auto-Reset Circuit Breakers as they are far more Reliable and Longer Lasting than Fuses! *Fuses tend too either burn out early due to poor manufacturing or more common by far not burn out when they are supposed too either Requiring Much more Time at their Max load to Burn Out than it should or Far Too Much Power! *Also being Auto Reset should save you having to get out and fiddle on the side of the road, Also most people don't keep spare fuses in their cars!

I reckon it's the same as fusebox hardwiring, minus an obd port to connect a scanner, so you can either diagnose/program your car or use the dashcam.

@@NikhilSaini38 OBD is said to be more power efficient than the Fuse Box no idea why though (maybe because it is tied into the cars computer including battery management so can detect battery power levels, alternators and engine status etc?) but is not a massive difference about 10 to 15% I heard from a Mechanic buddy of mine!

RADAR is just for triggering it at a further distance (2 to 5 behind car and 2 too 5 Infront!) otherwise must wait until object is right in front of car (Approx 1.5 meters or less !) or has hit car. Most Cameras use Frame Comparison use 1 frame from 1 sec to a minute ago (exact times changes by Dashcam!) to the current frame looking for changes this takes about 1/4 of a second but uses more power and the algorithm's are not very good beyond 2 or 3 meters without auto optical zoom! RADAR is more energy efficient than frame comparison as all the CPU needs to know is when it sent a signal and when it returns over a certain time or no return is good under is bad and too start recording, Frame Comparison it need to take an image than check everything too look for changes every Singal pixel looking for changes in clusters!

@@NikhilSaini38 RADAR should last about 20 to 30 days without draining battery if you go anywhere longer than that just disconnect car battery which should be always be done anyway for 30 day trips or longer too stop phantom drain (Clocks, Engine Managment Computer, ABS, Trip Computer, Infotainment System etc!) Also before you leave for a long trip and every few months (3 to 6!)the car should be allowed to idle for 2 to 3 hours to top up the battery!

@@DarthAwar i have cellink neo 8+s (96wh/7500mAh) installed to isolate it from the main battery, so car battery drain is the least of my problems. Currently, with radar, it loses 1-2% per day when nothing comes close to the front or the back of the car One day i parked slightly close a tree which has low branches towards the front of the car, so moving leaves kept triggering the radar, that day it drained 8% from the battery in about 24 hours.

I have a carplay and i can use it wireless with bluetooth and with a hotspot off my phone, i can do everything but carlinkit says to me i have no android auto/carplay and i can't use a extern box, only if u use theire aftermarket dongle in combination with a box. CarABC H3 Mini, work this with my aftermarket carplay?

I've no idea what are you asking, really, and how these disjointed parts of your story connect as a whole. What does carlinkit have to do with H3 mini and how would I know if it works when the other one doesn't seem to work? You can only take a risk and try, and if it doesn't - then return it while it's on warranty.

They say that my CarPlay aftermarked has no Apple CarPlay and no Android. That's right too. I had asked Carlinkit; Works a box with my CarPlay and she told me that that would not work because I have Android/Apple CarPlay. It would work if I did it in combination a dongle.
