How come the Amish women aren’t taught that submission does not mean obedience the verse before that says to submit to one another in reverence of Christ The Bible does not say to obey the husband it’s more conveying that you should support your husband or go to battle for your husband Nowhere does it say to obey them

Has anyone heard of Hermeneutics, the rules for interpretation. Yes there are rules and the first rule in Hermeneutics is Audience Relevance. What relevance did the message have to the original audience. We are reading their mail . We are to apply the principles but the physical events, signs and wonders were for them not us. Until the New Testament was completed they needed these supernatural signs to prove they were from God. They also could raise the dead, do you see any doing that ? Ever ? Of course not because this isn’t how God works today, His word and Gospel is the power to change lives and that is what He desires today . You can handle a snake and live in sin it proves nothing today.

The orginal ending of Mark is probably lost to time. That last bit about speaking in tongues and handling serpents doesnt appear in the earliest manuscripts. No early Christians did this why would you want to start what the ealey church never did and never believed in from a part of the Bible we arent certian is 100% canonical?

Doesn't the Bible say that you should not put the Lord thy God to the test? The cyanide, the flames in the face and the snakes are not ANYTHING to do with God or his son, Jesus Christ. Nothing. Doesn't the Bible also say to treat thy body like a temple, meaning to take care of your earthly vessel all of your life? Yes. It does. So, this is MIND BLOWING to me. I am from (Louisville) Kentucky and have seen some extremely unusual churches, but never this extreme. I thought speaking in tongues was quite extreme and unusual, but this takes the friggin' cake! Scary even!

Great film, although the theme is a little crazy. Having lived in the Philippines and visited many rural areas of Colombia and Mexico, I have to say that few native people would prefer dirt floors and no sanitation over city life. The western world has brought rural, impoverished communities great benefits, such as basic sanitation and modern medicine. The impoverished essentially stone age lifestyle of many rural communities is peaceful and extended families are intact and do raise psychologically healthy children. Few have real diet deficiencies, because of colonialism they have varied diets of fruits and starchy, carbohydrate rich foods such as cassava, sweet potato and banana. But intestinal parasites are endemic and basic infections can be deadly without antibiotics and vaccines. People like Matthewson that criticize Christianity and colonialism do it from an urban lifestyle with little or no understanding of the real hardships these people endure. There is little anger at the Spanish in the Philippines, Colombia or Mexico. That said, this is a wonderful movie. I love it and find myself watching it again every few months. Ignorance and poverty is not beautiful. We are living in a real golden age. Some people just do not understand what a huge bounty of gifts the rural populations now have, gifts their ancestors never dreamed.

😂the rock music would have made me angry too. How long we gotta sit here . I would show a little of what I like but be mindful that people don’t like hardcore (rock/rap etc.) The Amish hymns and harmonica would drive me mad also. Alright let’s rap this up and keep it short guys. I think exposing people but finding some kind of common ground is enough.
@Rckxs3 ай бұрын
The saddest part about the purity of the Amish kids is that this is not necessarily a choice for themselves it’s what they have been taught & cannot deviate from without being shunned. The problem is when something tragic happens that break their spirit they have to relearn a new way of life and what parts of their teaching was wrong. It reminds me of when missionaries go to different parts of the world to preach the gospel and “save” people. What if other cultures/religions came to America to preach their gospel and save us. I bet people wouldn’t be as tolerant. Teach good choices but let people e themselves and figure it out when it’s time. If they have a different way of life don’t cast them out. Let them sort it out. The Amish community is missing tolerance. Every way of life and culture needs tolerance. You don’t have to agree but you don’t have to cast people out. If they can accept r*pe and inc*st and other behaviors that would be deemed criminal they can accept someone gay or that wants to smoke a cigarette. The creator will make the final decision.
@Rckxs3 ай бұрын
While they have some nice values (hard work, being polite and well mannered) keeping people secluded in their sense is not good. They have been conditioned to think certain things are ok and oppress the ones that recognize what is inherently wrong. Forgiveness is fine but teaching/forcing SA, R*pe and Inc*st should be forgiven is wrong .
@Rckxs3 ай бұрын
They say have never heard of anyone Amish committing a crime. They are so conditioned for crimes to be excused by shunning and then forgiving. Including rap* incest , SA etc. Some of the worse crimes

I mean as a Christian a devout Christian too. I don’t see the problem with technology. That’s probably because I’ve grown up with it. My whole life don’t get me wrong. There are problems in this world, but you can never be immune to crime. That’s what my dad always said. Nothing is perfect. No community is perfect. We all have our downfalls.

I worked in an Exclusive Brethren school for 10 years so i have mixed feelings about them. Individually, many of them are lovely, approachable people but the rules they live by are very harsh. Over the 10 years, the Exclusive Brethren as a whole definitely became more worldly. My main issue with them is the hypocrisy

You say these people "obey the Bible". If they did, they would be healing people, by "laying on of hands". Would be a much more positive thing to strive for, instead of just trying to avoid a snakebite. This practice should be against the law, especially when children are present. Crazy that these people actually think God wants them to do that!
