Can someone here say who taught percussion this year? I’ve hit a dead end researching who taught percussion for the Kilts in the 1970s. Some years it was Tom Sorensen, but I know he taught Pioneer (“The Thing”) this year.

Uniforms, an appropriately sized pit, G horns(which sound better outside), complete pieces of music, GE off the charts, emotion off the charts, drill movement that stirs the imagination, beauty, and intense power. One of the best shows ever. 40 years later and it still brings me to tears.

How could this not be a Madison Scouts favorite performance? One of the best Pits ever; a great show! I did lament the Colorguards’ missing signature Scouts lid, however. No matter; bravo! Pray up.

Considering how no DCI group has any consistent identification through uniforms anymore, it's about time someone donned the Scottish Highland plad for a DCI field performance, not to identify as the Kilties, but as a single-season production. Fans would love it.

The West coast, typically didn’t see the DCI final until PBS made it available. If I recall the 80’s we didn’t see this until September.

My POV, if you’re a musician and don’t have to work the summer, why wouldn’t you join a corp for the summer season?

It’s hard to imagine the reaction back then compared to now. They are clearly fantastic technically these days but in my last few visits to Indy, they just leave you….in your seat. Every corps in 2022 got a standing ovation apart from BD. I’d love to go back and have some of this…..it’s just brilliant!

Back when we showed respect to the American flag and people did not kneel only to saluted unlike today no American flag, and no real drum and bugle c o r p s. DCI has turned the activity into a marching band competition and that's what they should call it marching band International. At one time this was a great youth activity, for kids that want necessarily interested in playing ball, they had a different Outlet. That no longer exists today today is March 26th 2024. Thank you for posting this clip brings back great memories❤❤🎉🎉

the opener had more drill and music than a lot of marching bands have in their entire show. . . . . big difference between a corps and a band.

Saw them about a week or two before finals. Don't remember how they marched as I was a Sr. in HS was listened more than I watched. This was at the Big V contest in Milwaukee, Wis and felt horn wise the Corps was better than they were at finals. The drum line licked some butt. Still my favorite snare sound to this day!
