I'm thinking the box I had was different but the "door and bricks" look familiar, I probably threw away the box or they made a new one later; I always had the radio on in our playroom downstairs which played the same, stupid shit that played for decades--Foreigner, Foghat and Loverboy were also, therefore, part of this set and crucial to the war--"Turn Me Loose" and "Cold As Ice" were the background music as CO's gave pep talks to their troops. The problem with being downstairs, though, is you had to turn the lights off when you left--you were also often alone--lights off darkened everything, the lights were also way in the back--as soon as you hit the switch you had to run for your life up the stairs before some monster reached you from under the staircase--monsters are especially fond of the legs and there is nothing you can do if they got ahold of one of them. I'd be up those stairs in a heartbeat--I was probably upstairs before the lights were out. One time we had friends over during the day--but for years I never fathomed a certain event that I still find hard to believe actually happened, but it did because I was there. We had a wooden staircase that went downstairs--monsters, though, wouldn't be under there during the day--they only worked the night shift. At any rate, this kid--who I barely remember now but remembered fully at the time--our house was popular, nearly everyone came over--he threw himself down the stairs face first like it was nothing right away (with his arms tucked under his chest, or so I recall, kind of peek-a-boo style but lower). He caught air on the way down too, as we watched, he threw himself down the stairs like he was jumping in a swimming pool--but for years I was too dumb to have ever considered why he was so eager to do it.

Orange is one of the more difficult colours to get your hands on. I hade to go online to find pink army men, and I hade to wait 4 years to get hold of purple, yellow and orange. BMC toys sell every colour, including the pink soldiers. They also now do army women.

I had this set as a kid. It's so weird seeing some of the terrain elements in particular again. I vividly remember them now having watched the video but had otherwise forgotten that I had ever even owned them. It's weird how the human mind works. The memory was still there but completely inaccessible without being toggled by visual stimulus. My mom threw all of my toy soldier sets, plastic models, GI Joes and Star Wars toys in the trash one weekend when I was gone around circa age 12. 😢

I have memories of the Sears Christmas shop back in the day. The garden department would be taken over by toys. Playsets of all kinds would have their contents mounted on a sheet of plywood and hung from the ceiling. Same for race car and train sets.

Hi, l enjoy your channel and seeing toys that my brothers and myself had as kids and played with. I also have an Army play set that you might be interested in, is there some way to contact you with photos and other info?
I love those old Marx playsets! I remember lots of them from my childhood. JC Penney and Sears always had many of them in their Christmas catalogs. I had two of the "Fort Apache"s during my life, one with the old style cavalry, and one with the newer cavalry. I had a couple of the army sets from World War II, "Desert Patrol", and "History in the Pacific". The last one I had was "The Blue and the Gray", their Civil War set. They were so cool. I can't believe that you find those boxes, too! Love your channel!
