Great demo! I’ve been trying to understand transient shapers better. How does a transient shaper do its thing? Does it work differently than trying to achieve the same thing with an EQ and/compressor? Also from a workflow standpoint, would you do your EQ and compression first and then add the transient designer to fine tune the resulting kick signal?

@LearnAudioEngineering2 күн бұрын
Mostly for the workflow, having multiple functions in one plugin, saves you from having the fuss between different plugin windows. Check out the Metric Halo interview with Serban, he talks about using it as a console: mhsecure.com/metric_halo/community/mh-news/200-grammy-award-winning-mixerproducer-serban-ghenea-comfortable-working-in-the-metric-halo-box.html Hope this helps, thanks for the comment!

Funny that you have some monitors for over 3500€ and some rackk gear for multiple thousand € and stoff like that, and you say 1000-2000 € for a big solid studio desk with rack mounts and stuff is too much for you. Because there are some great desks by zaor or studiodesk and such out there for in my opinion reasonable prices if you consider that you are working every day on them and want to use them for an extensive amount of time. Also, you camera focus was focused on your monitor all the time.
@LearnAudioEngineering2 күн бұрын
Priorities eh? Thanks for the desk suggestions, some of these look really cool. I do my best with the camera focus :P Appreciate the comment!

I really wanted an Argosy Halo desk. I just couldn't justify $3200 on a desk. So I went out and bought a beginners job-site table saw and a miter saw and a few other power tools and a couple of squares and some plywood and I built what I am now referring to as the prototype lol. I bought all that stuff and still came in $1500 cheaper than the Argosy Halo desk. The desk came out great. There are some things that I would change now that I have been living with it for over a year. I also got bit by the woodworking bug and now have this whole other expensive ass hobby. But hey now I have a table saw and a miter saw and a bunch of other tools and I am collecting more all the time and have learned a whole lot in the last year about making things. So my next desk gonna kick ass.

What a terrible unscientific comparison. I take it what with you being an expert that you have heard of eq. How the fk did you get the cube to sound so bad. In Scotland you would be called a fud.
@MS-si5wm5 күн бұрын
This is a ridiculously poor comparison. The Cube 60 sounds way, way better than the way this guy demonstrates. If you take some time with the Cube 60, you can make it sound as good or better than most one trick pony tube amps under $1000. Plus you'll never need to spend a fortune replacing and biasing tubes.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm just playing them as they come out of the box with no adjustments. I'd love to do a video where we dial them both in and see how we can make the most out of the cube! Great suggestion, & Thanks for watching

After watching this, it almost feels to me like your best option is building a custom desk for your studio. The Thomann desk has a compelling price and is quite decent but if you're really looking to optimize your space for your specific hardware requirements it seems like it would be more worthwhile to customize your own desk layout to match your own equipment in the space you have.

I agree, a DIY desk would ideal for a custom studio fit. I'd love to do a video on that someday. Thanks for your comment!

Thanks for this great "Brauerising" schematic. I'm a wild and crazy guy so, rather than run with this set-up, I'm gonna bend it somewhat. One area I might play around with is using a M/S setting which features on some stereo bus compressors such as: the Chandler Zener Limiter and the Manley Variable MU limiter, especially on the D buss or maybe the A buss
