"Arguably, one could become further enamored with the psychological avenues of their vices and eventually find comfort in a belief that (although inevitably harmful) a constant force in a temporary space is better than a life long discipline. This song is about breaking free from that path and cutting out those habits that harm you." -- Andrew Wells

This song is so good. I’m just now getting into Eidola and decided to go through their discography in release order. This song really grabbed my attention and made me fall in love with this band.

I love the guitar riff. It feels like it marks the start of a big journey. And considering each album is connected by a large story it fits perfectly--even transitioning from "Pugna E Eterna" even though this is track 3. Alsooo, at the Andrew Wells Solo show last year, Andrew told me theres talks of a graphic novel too. Similar to tht Dance Gavin Dance: Robot With Human Hair novel

This song has length but it will certainly reward you in the end. One of the best compositions I have ever heard, maybe the best in the genre. Great lyrics and overall performance.

This is the most atmospheric swancore song ive ever heard. I just discovered this band this week and i massively regret postponing them for so long. My swancore favs like Dance Gavin Dancs and Hail The Sun have atmospheric elements on some albums but it never reaches tht hauntingly intruiging, tranquil vibe tht Eidola captures here. And the fact tht the lyrics say "Compromise" and the next track after *this* song is "Compromise" AND it transitions seamlessly makes this both a legendary song and album. I'm just blown away bc Andrew Wells' passionate, strong vocals arent the only great factors here: the instrumentals--especially guitar is a voice all its own and im just at a loss for words. its so fucking amazing

After listening to the Great Glass Elephant, I never would've expected such an incredible work to come after that. Certainly, the Great Glass Elephant has it's place in music, but wow, what an immense leap forward in their work with Degeneraterra. I'm sincerely amazed.

[Verse 1] Mercury into gold Manifest yourself a place to hold Compromise the dream, suffocate the dreamer You'll never know We are the perfect balance of imbalance and subterfuge We don't have the answer [Verse 2] She will coalesce into existence Omnipotent, immaculate Our mother's hands are perfect They will teach all of us how to let go (x2) [Chorus] I am imperial (The son of the son) I am collected (Into the only one) The burden of the throne Panegyrized in stone Exiled from The temple of the weak [Verse 3] Transmutation The Magnum Opus dignified Amalgamate the soul Detach yourself from reason And then you'll know We are the perfect semblance of God and her intransigence Vindicated from antiquity [Instrumental] [Outro](x4) I need light I need oxygen

Highly underrated instrumental. Took me a bit to really soak in the second half of the album, but when it did this whole section hits differently. Bravo.

I just realized that the lyrics in this song match up with the first song in the album, but worded differently, almost opposite.

The second half of this song is so incredible, I get goosebumps every time. The first half is great still, 9/10 dont get me wrong, theres just something about the "I will comfort you (We can save each other)" bit that I just adore Plus the "ah"s?? So much raw emotion is behind it! You do that a lot in your music, that and repeated phrases/chants ("Destroy, rebuild" in Houses Mvmt 3 and "Conjure me/Cast a circle/Rouse my soul/Say my name" in The Familiar and even "Naraka" from Ancient Temperament) and it has so much POWER behind it and it makes the listener just FEEL and it is so fucking good

They're still around, they just haven't posted on this channel in years. They've since dropped two other albums (one in 2017 and one last year), vocalist recently joined Dance Gavin Dance on rhythm guitar.

The end of this song is unbelievable (starting from around 5:25). TGGE continues to blow me away with its eclectic songwriting and breadth of sound. Eidola are one of the best out there right now. With that said, the new album to me feels like a step backwards from stuff like this.
@xCarnageV12 жыл бұрын
I’m with you on that, but I never would have dived into this band if it weren’t for The Architect. And it’s still very much a solid album on its own, by most standards it still blows most bands out of the water. :p But no kidding, Eidola really set the bar high with this record and continued to escalate it in ways that most bands couldn’t dream of. The more I crawl back and forth through their discography, the more I keep coming back to Glass Elephant and finding more appreciation for it.
