That thumbnail, it's literally called the "Big Boy", so why in the world would you refer to it as a she, although all inanimate objects are genderless.

Cool! Steve’s a legend! I hate he retired, but the program seems to be in good hands with Ed Dickens now.

I am from Brazil, so I didn't have much information on the GT. In recent vídeos we can see trains running with some box cars with GT livery still living on. Its B-B locomotives ran fast and strongly! The early 90's were great for rail fans. Now everything looks so oligopolized.

Those huge diesels were GM/EMD V-16 two-cycle diesels, somewhere north of 10,654 cubic inches. Internal parts were so large and heavy that engine speeds were limited to around 950 rpm. The Centennials were beyond impressive and awe-inspiring.

In the mid-'90s, a fellow reactor operator at the Diablo Canyon nuclear powerplant was train manager on a 3985 trip between Omaha and SoCal. This looks like his train! Steve was an excellent operator at Diablo, a bit gruff at times, and we never saw him smile like the way he did during that 3985 run!

It would be interesting to see the crew at work in the cab. Does the fireman have to run back and forth or do you have like a chain gang pass the wood

I have this video by Green Frog, to say that this one was well put together is a huge understatement and I’m not sure if the photographers behind the cameras get nearly enough credit, like Mr. Gulash but in my opinion they did. Putting themselves in possible dangerous situations more than occasionally. Excellent work by Mr. Gulash and the rest, they left us with something to look back on. 👍👍👍. Thank you
@eugeeropel55724 ай бұрын
I would like to add that although Mr. Gulash filmed this video 45+ years ago, the clarity of this film being 16mm and the audio, is outstanding.
