I have a love-hate relationship with this song. I love it because it takes me back to simpler times-when I first discovered it as I started high school. It reminds me of the innocent memories: doing online school, being fourteen, figuring out what I liked as a teenager and what I was passionate about, making new friends in high school, and reconnecting with friends and teachers from middle school (my high school and middle school were under the same foundation, so some teachers carried over). After finishing my homework or logging off Zoom or Google Classroom, I'd watch movies or play The Sims 2 on my old, crappy 2013 laptop. But now I hate it, because that time has passed. I'm 18, working a 9 to 5 corporate job with minimum wage salary, and I've lost touch with my friends-some are in college, some are working, some are doing both. I hate that everyone else seems to have moved on like those days never mattered, and it feels like I'm the only one left remembering what it was like to start high school in the middle of the pandemic. So, every time I played this song on accident, I hate that those moments have passed. I wish I had done more, made more memories, done something better, appreciated everything more while it lasted. And honestly, I even miss my old Samsung A12 phone, no matter how crappy it was-it was part of those times too. But thanks, Garry, for making such an amazing song. I hope you’re having a good day-take care always.

i started listening to this album with this boy i met in the summer. it was the most beautiful experience in my life, really. With him for once i wasnt scared of growing up and felt deserving of happiness. I remember the way I used to look at him while Striptease and Boyfriend Girlfriend was on, like I was living it. It's been five months since he left, but everytime I listen to carwash I remember what I felt with him. Soap water made me feel it again. The movie is fucking gorgeous Its sad because I'm scared to never feel that again, but after all nostalgia is a sweet aftertaste of all the tears spilt.
