I didn't revert it to factory settings...is that necessary to make it jump from zone to zone? I couldn't get it to work in Park 1 or 2.

Hi sir, I was watching your “CTX 3030 at a local park - Deep silver - Full digs” video, and I see the pinpointer you use. The Pistol Pinpointer I like the way you use it and am interested in buying one, but I can’t find it anywhere. Do you happen to recall where you bought it? If so please let me know. Thank you sir.

Yeah that's a rare find. I seen a guy shoot a nickel thrown up in the air. He was my neighbor growing up in the sixties. Him and his son was there and Bob was an expert shot. I think he was shooting his Carbine that day not sure. But he had me throw up the nickel and yes he hit it square. Well the rest of the story is that guy Bob was Bob Reese who founded Springfield Armory.

When you were saying they were acceptable on the Nox , I was thinking it destroyed all the targets, just like your e-Trac. The E-Trac definitely has a more dependable VDI , it could be more stable if you knocked your sensitivity down a few more than you did , ( it helped me ) I run at 18 , but me starting from a detector that had 0 VDI , I just went by sound , and if you hear the Nox , even though the VDI was jumping a little, the tones were unmistakably great.

They could sell more detectors if the battery options included regular double A Batteries. This is practical when in the field requires it. With so many options in Programing yet no battery choice. WHY NOT!

I use a rechargable power pack like you'd use for your mobile phone. Just take the charging cord with you. It'll also charge up your headphones. A power pack can save a hunt. Get one that's at least 20,000Mah.

Notcing that much in ANY detector is going to geatly hinder the processing and performance . Especially depth. Not only that from my testing it down averages greatly ive seen non ferrous objects down average as much as 30vdi #s like a button ringing at an 8 that is normally a 37-38 without the hand made square nails with it. A merc' with a poptab coming in at 28-32 insted of 40's. To make a gold field program(high freq weighted) to "cherry pick" high conductors seems counter intuitive. Just my 2 cents.

I have an Equinox 800. I just did a similar comparison but only in gold mode 2 with coins from the 70s, .08 grams copper wire, .99 and .06 grams lead, tiny pieces of foil, and other very small pieces of metal. I also switched my coils between the 6 and the 11 inch coil. I place two 2 inch concrete bricks between the coil and the targets. For the very small targets I obviously couldn’t use the bricks. My intent is for hobby prospecting. Setting up a test bench test like you did gave me so much more confidence and understanding of action vs reaction from the detector. My conclusion for the hot soils in Colorado is GM2 in 40 kHz. Multi does detect ever so slightly deeper on minus one gram lead. The benefit from using only 40 KHz is the extreme difference in noise. Multi frequency is non stop constant chatter. Visual ids from negatives to 20s and 30s, Even with ground balancing and noise cancellation. The only solution was lowering the sensitivity. From 25 down to 20 was a significant loss in depth. 40 kHz at max sensitivity without ground balancing and noise cancellation was still much more stable and so much more peaceful. With 40 khz and not all that damn noise I could clearly hear the threshold break without a visual target id on multiple test. I can hear the threshold break in multi but only because I know when I’m passing the target by the coil and I can wave the target to pronounce the threshold but I believe in an actual environment to be overwhelming and not effective. Again the single frequency benefit only seems to work best with the lead because my test using the coins in single frequency has a loss of 20% average detection depth with both size coils. I hope you do more videos because it seems like the two best videos I’ve seen on KZbin explaining the frequencies are the least viewed when some high view stuff is just trash. Thanks.

Thanks for the comments. I would like to do some more videos but I do not have the equinox anymore. Doing tests like you described is really the only way to get a good idea what settings work best for certain situations and targets.

I'll try it, but I'm not to sure about this detector when more then one metal object in the hole, it is very bad about down averaging very bad so notching all this out is going to miss some coins IMO.
@DirtFishing

You probably do miss a few coins using this much disc especially if there are other targets around but I designed this to be used in the real trashy parks that I hunt. It does a good job of locating some coins while keeping the trash digging under control.....;o) Give it a try and see what you think.

You are using three different combinations of frequencies. Different frequencies have different responses to different metals. The ID is going to be different. If you do the same test using single frequency your results will be much the same, different ID’s.

I found flaws with my Legend it went down the road. Something you may decide to try. Is it the shape causing the inconsistency. Might try a spent larger center fire brass round and see how it compares across the board with ID. Might even try something else cylindrical and check.

White's Spectra V3i normalized all metal alloy targets to be the same VDI. How can a metal alloy VDI change It can't? No simultaneous freq./kHz shows the various freq./kHz in different frequency to indicate a nickel is a nickel normalized other than the V3i? In reality they provide very little information other than: Beep, Beep, Beep. The operator becomes frustrated, stating my detector is 'chatty'? Is that what you are experiencing? Thanks for the video.
@DirtFishing
@DirtFishing Жыл бұрын
If I remember right you could turn off the normalization on the V3i if you wanted to. The metal detector runs fine its just that the ID's are not consistent over different frequencies. So if I wanted to hunt in M1 my large civil war bullets would come in at an ID of 30-31. This is the same range as those ring pull tabs. It wouldnt be so bad in less trashy areas but I normally hunt public areas and there are hundreds of trash targets that fall into that range. If I hunt in M3 then then the IDs are back up in the zinc range. It would be nice to have a consistent ID no matter which frequency you were in.
@donaldlee6699
@donaldlee6699 Жыл бұрын
@@DirtFishing You are correct. You could turn it on and off. White's Spectra V3i Advanced Manual. With Normalized unchecked, V3i will report the raw VDI numbers for the frequency mode selected. There is at least one situation where this is an advantage. At 22.5kHz the lower part of the non-ferrous VDI range is expanded, resulting in more numerical separation of low-conductive targets. This can help in separating nickels and jewelry from pull tabs. Here is a table showing the difference in normalized versus un-normalized VDI’s for a number of targets:

Not all zinc pennys ring up at 41. On my Legend I have a hand full of zinc pennys I use to setup my discrimation and there's a few of them that ring up at 46. I get the same situation when setting up my Manticore. I also use a hand full of pull tabs. On my Legend they ring up in the high 20s and low 30s. Maybe a coil issue or a machine issue. Hope that might help you.

Copper is around 14 times more conductive than lead, so I would believe that M1 and M2 are bang on according to their conductive scale. I believe M3 emphasizes the lower conductive targets.
@DirtFishing
@DirtFishing Жыл бұрын
I was using a zinc penny and they are 97.5 percent zinc and 2.5 percent copper. The copper pennies usually hit around 46 on mine. Will have to read up on the M3 settings.
@DirtFishing
@DirtFishing Жыл бұрын
In park and Field modes different algorithms are run. In trashy sites M3 Multi frequency should be preferred. When a target is isolated underground, the ID will be the same in both modes. However, if the target is next to trash such as aluminum foil, Multi 3 in Park mode will generate a more accurate ID for the target.
