Not all slide releases are built the same one of the worst is a Glock unless you upgrade it. Hell a walther ppk doesn't have an external slide release.

I also hear the argument that it adds where to the weapon. The slide release is a replaceable piece. Not only that, it's generally a soft material than the slide itself. So not only can you replace the slide release for a two bucks, but it doesn't add where to the slide. It's almost like It was actually made to do this.

I think the big problem here is that all the basics you just explained is something that most gun owners can't do. So yes... It is that hard 😂

No says it’s too complex. The school of thought is that during stressful times, you loose your fine motor skills and to counter that is to revert back to big motions. It happens often when stress and rain create slippery conditions for people to miss the slide release so it takes them whatever extra time it takes them to fish and keep trying to fish for it. If someone is shooting at you, that extra second it takes can cost you your life, or at least your advantage. Also, not al “l semi auto pistols you pick up out there have slide release ( I can think of a couple that are slide catch only) so, as a general training rule that will create a motion that works for most pistols under most stress conditions, trainers tend to teach people to rack the slide. Good arguments can be presented both ways

The reason they train the slide pull is because in a shit situation you’re gonna be under a lot of adrenaline. training the slide pull with any gun handgun that has a slide is pretty generic where as different handguns have the slide release in slightly different spots it’s just easier muscle memory to go with the slide by about 🤏 but any advantage helps when it comes to your life

You can hit the slide release just by gripping your pistol properly, racking it can be useful if your slide release is stuck, but i think it's a hold over from older pistolz

Tap and rack clears jams and is also the same exact motion to reload. Way more simple. I also have small hands and have to totally reposition the gun in my hand to reach the slide release. I'll keep rack it.

im a recovering racker addict myself. once i got the right help i needed to change my life around and not be silly or dumb, i finally accepted self accountability and started using the slide release. im 12 years clean now and been slide lever releasing ever since. every day was a struggle at first but ill never go back. now im a recovery sponsor for other rackers and i love my life

I shoot predominantly suppressed, often with cast bullets, so I understand getting really dirty. I have one of those early hard chrome bolts that were bright white turned completely black, so much so that I had forgotten what color it was supposed to be. But once it has trouble closing, it’s time to break out the solvent and strip down. There’s a distinction between running dirty and just straight neglect. The thing still needs to work
