Great video. Note: The "constrain horizontal/vertical" for the reference geometry for the rectangle-pocket to both the horizontal and vertical, it should be just the horizontal only.

Superb video. Could you tell us what your version is? I'm using 1.0 amd my dark mode doesn’t look quite the same. Thanks.

No matter what I do, I can not make a pad. I made a simple square, all green and constrained. But still get error when making pad.

Hi, something is not right, I am using FreeCAD 1.0 and you are using 1.0RC, yours must be different because when you close sketcher your program automatically flips to part design, mine does not, also I cannot figure out why I cannot form the pocket. I pick the surface/face sketch the rectangle on that plane, its fully constrained and when I try to execute pocket I get this message: “Cannot use this command as there is no solid to subtract from. “Ensure that the body contains a feature before attempting a subtractive command.”

Thank you sooo much!!! I spent hours experimenting and trying to find youtube help for such a simple operation and couldn't get it. Coming from several other CAD packages...FreeCAD has some tough learning curves, but I am determined to use this package productively, since it's the only good free package.

Honestly I love following your tutorials. I am learning so much. But can I suggest you name them l3sson 1, 2, 3.....x etc so that we can follow in order, also it would help you if you name the features you would be using like freecad polypattern etc

This one was a bit of a miss - you had the opportunity to educate the viewer about Step export settings in FreeCAD as well as the Step import settings in Bambu Studio but in both cases you just blew past them. If you're going to use STEP instead of STL, please take the time to explain the options and when/why a setting should be used. Otherwise selecting STEP could lead to confusion and poor prints because of a user touching something on those dialogs out of ignorance. Using STL is the "easy button" but STEP can have some advantages, but you missed out on the opportunity to explain that to your viewers.

Good analysis with knowledgeable video. But I think you've already uploaded 1st part of this video.

I'm really finding this series very helpful. At around 4:00 creating the construction plane and offsetting it. When I do that the plane isn't squarely aligned with the first circle, so when I create the smaller circle they're misaligned. I've tried it multiple times and it's always the same. Any thoughts on why this is happening? Thanks.

@CADCAMLessons I got momentarily stuck on 2:17 while adding the 'coincidence constraint' to the circle. I had to select the circle's perimeter instead of center point to make it work correctly. Otherwise I was getting an error. Just a quick heads up.

Im modeling with the video to practise some, but at 13:09 the line where the sctech in xy and the one in yz met isn't there for me. They are already merged together. Why is that? Or how do i disable this? Did it exactly like you did in your video and im in v1.0.0

Thanks. I am an EE that has been using FreeCad for a month to create prototype cases for prototype circuit boards so my direct reports dont break the boards while testing them. FPGA design easy - my mind just doesn't think 3D - it is hard. lol Of all the freecad youtubers, you are have the easiest to understand, most concise and most up to date. No ramblings - just to the point. Thank You.

Please help. I do not have the option "create external goemetry" option on sketcher ??? how come ?
@markjones78037 күн бұрын
@4:10 you say Click Create external geometry. Where is that button. I've been searching for it for some time. Even FreeCAD help says just click the button but doesn't explain. It just say "Select the Sketcher → Sketcher tools → Create external projection geometry option from the menu."

Your tutorials showing how to approach creating different objects are the best FreeCad teaching resource on You Tube. As i am learning FreeCAD, and only use it to create functional 3D parts, i dont use it daily so will never become an expert. My workflow involves going through your videos and seeing how a certain object could be created, then cracking on. Sometimes, ill pull a few tips from a couple of videos to get to where i need to be whilst im still learning. Thank you so much for what you provide to the community.

You can do this with just a pad, a cut then a chamfer, at the cost of slightly more complicated sketches.

I like you just get to it, no explaining things that people won't remember. Seeing practical examples start to finish is best way to learn.

Hi. Great video series. I do have a question. When i try to export a simple 2D drawing to .pdf and print it out on my lazerJet printer, to be sure that all my messurements are correct according to my pysical material, i have this problem, that the print doesnt come out to scale. Eks. if i make a simple sketch of a square with 4 holes, placed with a distance of 35mm between the holes, the printed paper is not to scale, the distance between the holes are smaler than the 35mm i specified, and ofcause i made a sketch that can fit an A4 paper, how come ??. Hope you can tell me what i'am diong wrong. Thanks again. 🙂

Which is the freecad revision you are using? Is it 1.0?
@LFANS20018 күн бұрын
It's version 1.0 RC2 (seen on the top left corner of the screen), the official FreeCAD 1.0 already includes it.
