Our partner is a sociopath. We have Dissociative Identity Disorder and autism. It a challenging life, for sure. We have 5 kids, the youngest is just two. We have no car. No job. No income of our own. Understand where you're coming from, these people have always been there, social media I think has exacerbated the problem by allowing them to get together with other similar minded people and proliferate. If one sociopath finds another who does the same thing, it sort of justifies their actions for them, makes them think the way they treat people is normal and OK. When of course its far from normal and very abusive. I guess words are just there to use to manipulate and lie with. As law enforcement say, " modus operandi " behavioural characteristics will always speak louder than words. If you see it in someone, run away. Probably a very obvious behavioural pattern.

I know this is an old video but I wanted to say thank you. I have kids with a sociopath and despite a custody order it has been hell. I compare it to terrorism bc I never know when the next bomb will drop to try and dismantle my life. Holidays are invariably ruined - he finds a way. So I plan fun things with the kids on different days. Its very hard.

Well stated, thank you for bringing light to this destructive nature, my husband and his family are like this, I was really pummeled in the beginning of the marriage, so sad, I will say that a big part of it was the pressure from my church that women have to submit to men, as a young woman I wanted to do what was right by God I trusted the older women, I even got accused of being a jezebel because of complaining about my husband being abusive, I wonder how many women suffer in silence in the Christian homes it's a tragedy

A lot of this stuff that's coming out about narcissists now has been discussed in AA for decades, amazing.... one of the things I heard set a lot in Al-Anon was that the only one in the house that was allowed to have emotions was the alcoholic

I’m so thankful for this video. I’m currently divorcing a narcissist/sociopath after 27 years. He’s been turning my son against me for years. He’s 25 and even though has seen the abuse still takes his dad’s side because he feels sorry for him.

Thank you so much for these videos it has helped me alot. I was also married to a Narcissist/Sociopath. The relationship lasted for 3 and half years. With the last 10 monrhs we were married. Thats when everything changed after we got married. He told me the day after "I own you now". And thats when the abuse started. Emotional, verbal,financial and spirtual and the very end there was physical abuse. Thats when i ended it. I filed for divorce.

I see so much misinformation in these comments. Please don't make statements about ASPD whether that's sociopaths, narcissists, or even psychopaths. This misinformation can lead potential victims into a false sense of security by dangerous individuals. I few things I've seen All sociopaths are narcissist: that's just not true. There are plenty of sociopaths who are self aware and even have low self-esteem. Sociopaths are always cold: this is also not true as many sociopaths,high functioning ones especially, can be very warm people who really care about you. They can also act very warm and passionate. If you're looking for a narcissistic, cold person you'll never spit the sociopath. Many times you have to reflect on their words and actions after the fact or just be observant enough to find cracks in their facade. Please be safe and don't allow people, especially very friendly people, so close to you so quickly. That is how you can stop a sociopath from latching on.

I prefer a socipath over a narcissist. The narcissist is pure evil, I know where I have the sociopath. A sociopath is the guy who constantly committs crimes and are proud of them, a narcissist will schred your heart to pieces.

I'm a grown up now and when I try to stand up against my father when he is fighting with my mom he cannot take it. All he says is that why am I so pissed with him arguing and basically blaming my mom. He thinks I have anger issues. It's illogical to him how & why I always take my mom's side. My brother has become an apathic individual due to this mental abuse, he has completely lost hope in relationships and thinks me desiring to be in one is the most foolish idea .
