Amazing. I was always afraid of trying to learn the piano but seeing someone do it always makes me happy.

Great playing! I remember your older performance of Riku on the grand piano. How was this piece now compared to 7 years ago? Did it feel the same or much easier? I hope you make more videos soon.
@AfroPiano Жыл бұрын
Well, 7 years ago it was honestly outside of my skill range, but I was too stubborn to admit it. Replaying it now, I notice all the intricacies of how the melody weaves in-and-out throughout the piece. And I also notice that I have very high expectations of myself and hence plan to revisit it years in the future again. And I also hope to make note videos. Time for music has increased since October, but so far I'm spending more of it exploring things outside my comfort zone of usual genres / types of pieces.

I at least want to know how would you have interpreted The Other Promise. What was your imagination? How would you describe your character? That character.
@AfroPiano Жыл бұрын
I mean, it's simply the theme of Roxas, so to me the Other Promise is either the promise he made to Namine or the promise that he made to Xion (but doesn't actively remember). To me, it's a piece about identity - being true to yourself, which conincidentally is what Roxas is struggling with. Does that somewhat answer the question?
@dekirou320 Жыл бұрын
@@AfroPiano either Roxas promised to both of them, he specifically promised an identity. I, honestly, not sure about the whole storyline of Kingdom Hearts and Roxas' lore. But as a pianist, I can feel what you had played and brought justice to the character, so thank you! Thank you that you made me feel to somehow find identity just like Roxas' and you @AfroPiano.

Beautyful play. I had never before thought of how awful the relationship must be between the musician and his instrument. He has to fill it, this instrument, with the breath of life, his own. He has to make it do what he wants it to do.

The sound quality is amazing! Is this the built in sound from the keyboard or are you using a VST? And what are your keyboard settings as far as reverb, reverb environment, brightness, ect ? Also what model is the piano? It looks like a Clavinova.
@AfroPiano2 жыл бұрын
Hello, the piano is a Yamaha NU1. I am using the built-in sound, that can be recorded directly to USB in .wav format (if you squint, you should see the USB). Then I just increase the reverb and the bass slightly via Audacity and that's it.
@BlackjackYak542 жыл бұрын
@@AfroPiano ohh cool, I'll have to try that on my P515. I guess I'll use default reverb setting then add it later in audacity or Cubase and see how it works. My keyboard has a USB port as well.

This is beautifully played! Can I ask what fingering you're using on that triplet in the intro? I can never seem to get it to feel natural without my hand winding up in an inconvenient position to continue.
@AfroPiano3 жыл бұрын
Hello, I recently moved into a new place so it took me a while to respond. First off, thanks for the compliment. Regarding the triplets, in the first line I use 4-3-2 for the fingering, in the second line I use 3-2-1. Hope that helps!
