This execution seems overly boppy and bouncy, but not bad. 0:45 I don’t think you’re supposed to kick in 2 diagonal directions, just in front of you where your target is. (This seems to be a problem throughout the form)

Very similar. The original Tae Kwon Do forms came from the Chang Moo Kwom after General Choi gathered the Nine Kwons to help develop Tae Kwon Do. Chang Moo had developed its post-WW2 forms off of SHotokan Forms including the Heian. This form here Hwa-Rang was one of the Chang Hon Forms. Chang Hon forms were the first all original TKD forms but were strongly influenced by the lessons and structure of the Chang Moo Kwon Forms.

What's the theory behind the up and down movement? It stands out to me as the most obvious difference from the karate forms of my youth
@tillyfu40613 жыл бұрын
I don’t know if this counts as a theory but in tae kwon do I got taught that the up and down movements are supposed to generate power in between each move and create a sign wave

I just promoted to Brown Belt tonight so this video is going to be beneficial in using for referencing back to whenever I'm not sure with a move and to help me memorize my pattern at home!

Brown? Didn't both ITF and WT Taekwon-Do only have the grades white, yellow, green, blue, red and then 1st through 8th dan black belt?
@VivaMarie2 жыл бұрын
@@SlashingLennart oh jeez you must do American tkd... For me it goes white yellow purple high purple green high green brown high brown red high red then black and up... And hwa rang is red!
@SlashingLennart2 жыл бұрын
@@VivaMarie I practice the same style demonstrated in this video, ITF-tkd, founded in what is now NK by General Choi(the man on the picture). I'm not saying you're wrong. I was just taught that the belt order in this style(without naming the stripes) are ⚪(symbolizing innocence/empty mind open to learning)-->🟡(for earth/sand)-->🟢(for a sapling)-->🔵(sky the sapling reaches out for)-->🔴(for danger)-->⚫(opposite of white, and no fear of darkness in the broader sense of the word). I always thought colors like brown, orange and purple are colors used in Japanese martial arts like judo/karate/ninjutsu etc.

Boi the 2 turning kicks are not done diagonal and neither are the punches going back, other than that the strength and technique was amazing
@irmasil34 жыл бұрын
Also, if you refer to the punches in L-stance following the low block in walking stance, the body in becoming smaller as L stance is smaller in length than the walking stance.
@okarowarrior4 жыл бұрын
According to the encyclopedia: Mov 18: "Excecute a high turning kick to D/F ["South-east",thus, diagonaly] with the right foot and then lowering it to F [East]. Also, what do you mean with "punches going back"? If you refer to mov 21 and further: "Excecute a middle punch with the right fist while performing an L-Stance toward C, pulling the left foot." So, the punches are done with the arm that is behind, if that was your question.
