Fugijen made Fender guitars in Japan for 25+ years,, Steve Vai,s Ibanez Jems are Fugijen made.. Gibson uses Fugigen to make guitars and rebrand them. Greco, and 50+ brands are made by Fugijen. I have 2 high end Ibanez guitars that i now learn were made by Fugijen. AND i have a J standard in Aqua burst.

What's the neck profile and fret radius? I have small hands and short stubby fingers, I think a 9.25 radius fretboard with a flat neck would probably works best for me. But I still have to play it to really know. I may end up having to get one custom made before I can ever advance
@grahamcook6351
@grahamcook6351 Жыл бұрын
Hi. Manufacturers use either vintage 7.25" radius or 9.5", with more modern necks being 12" and 14". This refers to the top of the frets and makes playing very different. It would not have any bearing on the neck "size" as in the width or profile of the back. I think it is more a case of learning to work with the instrument rather than thinking there is a neck that "fits" your hands. I have small hands (I am 5'5" tall) but will adjust to any neck size by altering my playing style slightly. I would suggest buying something and giving it a try for 6 months, if you really cannot get to grips you can always sell it on.

Nothing sounds like the Danelectro and looks like it either. The company was founded in 1947 by founder Nathan Daniel who invented the lipstick P/U as a cheap alternative to the Fender p/u's at the time. Little did he realize how iconic the sound would become. He made them cheap by using a single bar Alnico magnet wrapped in wax and paper, stuffed inside a lipstick tube, he bought the tubes surplus by the truck load to reduce costs. He had lots of innovations that he was not afraid to put into practice, like using Masonite as a cost controlling body material, which also enhanced the sound. He sold the company in 1966.The new owners only operated for 3 years and closed the factory in 1969. In the 1990's the current owner bought the name to produce pedals and ended up with the whole company, when people clamored for the return of the guitars, he went into production in Korea, then China and while it was great to have them back, the quality was hit and miss, finally they returned production in Korea in 1999 and they have been producing great and unique guitars ever since. I have owned several including a 12 string, and am just now considering the '59 Stock in Aquamarine, because it is as close to an original Dano that you can still get, and at a great price!

Japanese products are all, hands down, the best quality you can find! Look at the 2 versions of the Soldano SP77 preamp, one is made in the USA, the other one is made in Japan and the build quality is completly different with a clear upgrade for the japanese one...

Graham, Sad that falling in love ( with a single guitar ) has taken me 77 years! You sold me my new PJD this evening and were kind and patient. Now I'm totally besotted. The quality of the instrument just astounds me, as you know I own a number of quality instruments, Fender, Gibson, and Ibanez, But this blows them away so a huge thank you!!

I bought mine in April 1983, in Vancouver... this one music store brought a bunch in, Telecasters, Strats, their own design and the infamous Love Rock Les Pauls.. cheap as chips as well... these were either Korean or Japanese made. my guitar tech who also worked in that store rang me up and said how much money do you have..? Get down here and buy as many of these Tokais as you can, they are out of this world... I hustled down there and the Les Pauls were all sold out, there was one last Tele, and two Strats, that I snagged. I'm not really a Strat player but hung on to them for a while, eventually sold both but the Tele has been in my hands ever since then, it was my regular player for years on stage, and I still play it most days now.. mine has the natural alder body and a rosewood fingerboard, I did lose the pick ups and put in Seymour Duncan stacks with coil taps, which gave it a whole new mojo...

I have one of the first year model serial no 69 signed by Vinnie - indeed it is 44mm thick apparently Honduras mahogany one piece body, and of course double cut away. Dual truss rod ! Unfortunately the previous owner fitted EMG81's and routed it for Kahler which I have removed (and sold for a tidy sum) and used a schaller bridge with fine tuners to hide the filled cavity, it has schaller tuners from new. It has been refretted, while the frets are level the person fitting the frets has filed away some off the side dot markers - because he did not have the correct tool

Don't you feel like the tokai have a kind of a muffled sound compare to the fender telecaster ? I got myself a tokaibreezysound and I am going here and there on YT to check what settings I could have for differents sounds and I am slightly at lost with this kind of muffled sound happening.
@grahamcook6351
@grahamcook6351 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, and in short, no I don't find this at all. I think in fairness unless you have the 2 guitars side by side and play then in the same amp you cannot possibly judge "tone" Every guitar (even the same brand and model) will vary slightly and the same applies to amplifiers. When trying to assess tone via you tube clips...well just don't! The extra variables make it impossible, for example how was it recorded, what was used to produce the audio on the video, and then what have YT done with that sound (a lot of compression). On top of this remember there have been endless models from Fender, with dozens of different pickups, the pickup outputs vary changing the overall tone. As a result some Tokais will send warmer than some Fenders, but the opposite is also true. You need to get out into the real world, go to a local guitar shop and listen to them in the flesh.

@@grahamcook6351 Thanks a lot for your answer, this do helps a lot. It's kind of fun and scary at the same time, in this area of certainty about what we can expect from a "tool" to see that guitars (and amps, and speakers adn the rest...) still have their own "life" and the quest for the sound we re looking for is for sure a long one.
