I’ve lived all over the east coast but I was born in New York and live in philly now. I love both. New York offers way more but it’s also a much more inconvenient place to live. With philly you still get the walkable environments and great food without paying a premium, tho you sacrifice nightlife and it’s also significantly more dangerous. Also New York has a much better job market, but Phillys isn’t bad per se

Is newton a good area to retire in?

Good accurate facts about Yardley (pop.2500) its clean and crime free, but whats unique is it borders the Delaware river, has a lake in the center of town, and canal state park running thru it.

I lived there from the age of five until 17. The school system was pretty good, I miss Lansdale day over at Memorial Park with the cannons and breakfast at the local diner up Broad Street north… Also love the parades back then. They were always great, and they went through the center of town, and everyone came. I would say it’s probably one of the best little towns you could live in with little kids and raise them. Used to be very safe there.

Altoona Pennsylvania is a horror story in terms of cost of living I just bought property there and groceries stores are outrageous Weis and Martins are over the top. Dollar general is where common households shop which is crazy. Sheets has the gas stations almost in every block selling gas at the highest price compared to West Virginia and further South. real estate tax is outrageous and houses are less than 4 feet apart. New construction is a rare seem because taxes and city council mandates are absurd. The liberals are in part to blame.

A more accurate comparison would've been manhattan vs center city or affluent areas of philly. Alot of scenes in your video picture manhattan and i know that many people think of nyc as only manhattan but manhattan is only one of five boroughs of nyc. I moved to the philly suburbs from manhattan and am very happy with the move btw 😊

I’ve been living in East Bucks County for a round a few years now and I’ve been loving it here especially my car only costing around 15 thousand dollars, which is not the same for areas like Philly most apartments in my area cost only a little over $1000 almost 2500 maximum😊

You get what you pay for ……

I would go with Philadelphia Pennsylvania for the lower property taxes and PA don't tax your retirement income when you retire. I would still hangout at Atlantic City NJ for the summer events 😄

Believe this Texas gal who has had a pool-- NOT WORTH the expense and work for 3-4 months of the year!!!

I think Illinois was number two for highest gas tax, I believe Pennsylvania was number three..

Since 1908, Ambler had the best, old-fashioned hardware store, Deck's, which went out of business about two years ago after one of the owners passed away. For generations, it was a reliable, customer-friendly establishment that only changed in product, not in service. RIP, Deck's Hardware.
