For those saying the laptop gets too hot, Of course it does, all laptops get hot. Just because it's made of aluminum doesn't mean it's gonna overheat. It overheats because it has to work harder to compute what you are doing on it. Aluminum is what is known as a "Conductor" for heat. That means it absorbs it and radiates it. Plastic does not usually do this however because plastic is not a conductive material. My laptop gets hot all of the time because that is what they do. If you are willing to blow 2,000 dollars on a laptop just buy a desktop and run any desk on it with your previous pc.

Good luck with Apple, I don't like their pricing or their closed and awkward operating systems. I do have iphones and wish they had windows style file management as they're useless for the way I separate my documents and files, could be me too!

I have been using Solidworks since 2007. Switched to Fusion since a year ago and I really like it. Since Fusion is available for MacOS I have been tempted to buy a Macbook Pro and replace my Dell Precision 7550. But looking at all the CES 2025 releases a lot of new Windows laptops are coming out this year so I will probably lean towards some new Windows laptop instead. I have some "OCD" regarding ECC memory so probably will get a laptop with ECC.
@JorgeMoralesAv16 күн бұрын
The ECC is a fact, I have also been using SolidWorks since 2010 but have always been in contact with a lot of CAD software. I do not think that the Macbook can replace Windows laptops, at least not now for CAD, but I want to check what is really possible with Fusion, Onshape, etc. The important thing about normal Windows laptops with consumer GPUs is that with the Creator Studio NVIDIA drivers you get almost comparable performance in CAD programs. Solidworks at least. Thanks for watching!

I'm using daily two Dell Precision mobile workstations: 7670 & 7680. Interestingly, the 7670 gets warmer than the 7680. However not really intensely hot, just the internal fan got loud frequently. I put the 7670 on a cooling stand with two oversized fans and problem solved: now internal fan doesn't come up as often. On the other hand, the 7680 doesn't get nearly as warm as the 7670, even though the 7680 is under heavier workload of the two. The 7680 doesn't even require external cooling! So, Jorge probably had a faulty device with a overheating problem.

I saw in the comment section full of tweaking including switching the turbo...My question to them is..If i am buying a workstation that means i need performance right? Why i have to off the turbo? Changing the profiles to lower down the temp means lowering the frequency so why i buy a workstation?i can buy a normal laptop..Why the hell i have to do so many experiment to an expensive device at the first place just to deal with thermals...cmon guys...pls accept the truth.. POOR HEATSINK DESIGN MANIFOLD...atleast dell would have put 3HEAT PIPES CONTINOUSLY like alienware series or like old precisions...😢😢😢
@MrJitendra007Ай бұрын
You are the BEST pal.. At least you spoke everything what i wanted..I am a mechanical and a design engineer. I like dell and i have been using dell precisions for last 12 years. I was really proud of my devices..I have a DELL PRECISION M4800 and a DELL PRECISION 7710 with excellent cooling. Infact the heat sinks are well built to dissipate the heat efficiently. Few days back i bought a 7750 with excellent condition but highly dissappointed with thermals skyrocketed to 100degree..tried every possible thing to lower it down but no luck...luckily i got my money refunded...My tasks are super intensive as a design engineer. It has to run for hours non stop..so if this is the situation whats the point?..lately i compared the heatsink of DELL P 7710 or ALIENWARE with 7750...trust me its absolutely a garbage..I saw how DELL has failed to do its R&D on Precision lineup...so DELL PRECISION 7750 and above has become a SH*T.....my old workstations are still giving me a good service..atleast can run overnight without a single issue...DELL...WAKE UP...

Agree 100%. DELL Precision 7680 ( i7-13850HX, 2100MHz, 20 cores) has a heat problem and is too slow. Too Heavy. My company paid for it, and I thought I was getting top performance as I paid over $4,000. 64 GB RAM and with 2 Tera Solid State HD. Also, it locks up regularly as well.

Its mindblowing ... I mean they really made this model a lot thicker than the previous to improve and solve heating problems and here we are ... How is it even possible to push hundreds of thousands of these devices worldwide without solving such a basic problem? They have no testers employed which tests anything they put on the market?

Great video. Right on time for my project. I am setting up Win Server RDS for a customer’s remote access. (Business apps. W/o tweaking there is a noticeable performance lag that is unacceptable) Please confirm: Your configuration recommendations for GPU acceleration removes the need to purchase the Nvidia VDI license. I was working on the assumption that the Nvidia license (and drivers) enabled the pass through acceleration.
@JorgeMoralesAvАй бұрын
I confirm! I only have one tip, and it is very important, the highest end GPUs, like the 6000 Ada or 5000 Ada, they work perfectly for the configurations on this video, but they may not work when using Proxmox or other virtual environments. As they will probably require additional licensing. Thanks for watching!

@JorgeMoralesAvАй бұрын

I used Tesla V100 16 GB. But my simulation stopped midway and it says out of memory. You know a work around for this? Hybrid?
@JorgeMoralesAvАй бұрын
Are you out of memory RAM or VRAM? if you disable the GPU acceleration, can you solve the job? Try that, if that is the case, reduce the elements of the model and run it again using GPU acceleration. Hybrid is more recommendable for CPUs with performance and e-cores using different thread counts. But you might give a try, altough it requires usally more RAM. Thanks for watching!
@lashmeisterАй бұрын
@@JorgeMoralesAv I got 192 GB RAM. With just CPU, it is able to simulate just fine. Was thinking if I could simulate it faster. But with GPU acceleration enabled, it says out of memory. My Tesla has 16GB of VRAM. Does stacking more GPU of the same kind solve this issue? Or no?
