Lately I have been more on the Fountain Pen side, but I have lots of Pilots "The Shaker" 0.5mm that I can wholeheartedly recommend. As I decided to learn to draw, I have come to appreciate 2.0mm mechanical pencils. Looking forward for a 5.6mm clutch pen in the future. Mechanical Pencils have been a staple of my education, so I have a big soft spot for them. They are inexpensive, reliable and allow for corrections.

Hi, thank you for your question. I don't have a video about stitching the squares together. It sounds like there's something there to explain. I shall certainly think about doing one on this, and particularly about sewing peyote pieces together. Hello! I can make my own patterns on paper but is there a way on how to tell how big the jewelry piece will be like to scale? Many paper ones have large beads
@Sciart9 ай бұрын
Hello, thank you for the question. When I first started designing my own pieces, I started with graph paper. However I found it such a nuisance when I wanted to change it I would have to redraw it entirely, I then tried Excel, which was just as tricky and neither of these ways helped with knowing the final size. There are various bead software tools that really take the pain out of the design. Some are cheap and cheerful, others complex, some you hold the work on your computer/tablet, others the designs are held on their servers. Some don’t work on Apple, or mobile devices. However they will all give you an ‘approximate’ size. It all depends on how accurate you want to be. So one suggestion is (and I do this myself) I will do a test piece, measure the size of the test of the test piece, and if this matches, I can be sure that the real piece will match the designed piece size. So I would recommend investing a least a little in a bead software tool, that way you can dial in the size that you want, and design to the size. They all allow you to choose a palette - for instance Miyuki Delicas or Toho Aikos, or seed beads of various sizes. I found that looking for the right tool for me, improved my efficiency in design enormously! And I could get on with the beading. I do hope that helps. Thank you for watching.

You speak so clearly and I’ve really enjoyed your video, however, it would have been so much easier to see if you had used larger beads and maybe a darker colour, not one that blends in with your skin. Just for future reference, I’m a visual learner rather than hearing so I really struggled doing this circle. I made too many mistakes. I actually gave up in the end. I am going to try again though. Thanks for taking the time and energy to share you talent. ❤

And since I have had so many requests for information on how to do bead circles I plan (when I get a chance) to do another update on this, with better closeups and diagrams. Hello, thanks for your question. I am right handed so the thread is travelling counter clockwise in the circles. Imagine that the blue wiggly line is the thread with the needle on the end. How do i keep on going with this design to make my circle a bit bigger?
@Sciart Жыл бұрын
Now that is very tricky. It all depends on the tension you use when sewing. It's complicated by the fact that beads will drop into the gaps in the earlier row. It's almost impossible to model mathematically. And beads being variable in size adds to this. I have in fact made a circle of about 14cm in diameter using size 15 Miyuki seed beads. It's a challenge to get it to lie absolutely flat. And by the time you get to 10cm you are at more than 100 beads in each row. Sometimes the cause of a wrinkle can be several rows back, so it is a laborious process. I do think about sharing the pattern, but I'm not sure it would work for others, with different tensions of sewing etc. You can find more here kzbin.info/www/bejne/l32sanuvepmbrMU. I hope that helps. Let me know how many rows you have completed and perhaps I can share the next 5-10 and you can see how you get on?

I’m new to mechanical pencils so I’m trying to find something very small 0.3mm or less in a 2B so I can draw in tiny details in my graphite drawings. Any help and or words of wisdom are greatly appreciated.
@Sciart Жыл бұрын
0.3 pencils in 2b leads will tend to break easily without good support. There are automatic lead feeds such as the Pentel Orenz. They go as small as 0.2. But that is quite hard to write with. It’s really all about the grip and how well you can see the lead. Uni make a 0.3 Kuru Toga where the lead rotates as you write and this will give you a constant thickness of lead. If you like a thick grip on your pencil an often overlooked pencil is the Platinum Pro-use. This has a really nice grip. Beware of lead breakages and use a brush to remove the broken lead. Buy high quality leads. Thank you for watching
