Hey Derek, I'm 66 years old and just bought my first beginner piano, which is what brought me here. I love the way you use your right thumb, great technique. Thank you for the inspiration!

I think it’s funny that the dude who clicked the bunches of notes clicked every note in the whole tone scale

I accidentally had this playing in the background while watching the new 28 years later trailer....my god did it fit perfectly and gave me chills. I had no idea until the trailer finished and the music kept on going so I checked my other tab and realized lol. Anyways, beautiful performance as usual Derek....thanks for sharing your talent with the world!

Awesome performance you guys rock! Very cool improvisation 💯

The amount of melodies and chord progressions swimming around in his head is absolutely mind blowing. Not to mention the improv and embellishments he does over them because he’s just mastered so many styles and scales. A really really impressive musician

Just wow... I've started listening Derek's improvs some months ago and I'm always speechles. Some people would say that autistic and savant people have nothing to offer, but I personally would pay to have your improv talent. I have not seen many pianists do what you do with such ease, your "syndrome" is your superpower. Go Derek!!

Bro, this guy is next level. He managed to improve the song and make it 10 times harder and better. Wow!

Hmmmm - if he had never heard the music before, how did he know the title? "It was called Reverie, Adam.."
@derekparavicini2 күн бұрын
Adam told him the title before playing it. We just cut that part out and started with the music.

@@derekparavicini Fascinating. I can play a few pieces from memory, I play mostly from music.....I was watching where Derek's eyes were pointing - I know he is blind, but still, something inside makes his head position itself as if he can see what he needs to. I can't think if I do similar when playing from memory....have you studied sighted pianists? Do all people perform similar physical movements whether they are musicians or not? For me, it must be something to do with the way our memory works....Derek seems to work incredibly well using RAM, whereas my musical memories tend to have been hammered into my ROM. For how long does Derek retain his repertoire? Sorry - it is just enthralling!

THIS IS relative pitch. It is common. If a piano is tuned...to 400 bpm instead of 440 for "A", and the other triads of strings are equally tuned so as to be in tune uniformly, than the frequency differnces are experienced as interference patterns when in diascord, as a beat frequency, and as symetrically perfect when in "relaticve pitch". REAL "Perfect Pitch" does exist, and that is the ability to know the beats per minute so that absent other notes, one with this ability could tune the "A" string triad of strings that constitute an a note on the piano, ABSENT a reference note at all, direct from a deep sleep. Like a computer digitally. However, the altitude can additionally alter the frequency as percieved by the air density relative to humidity and even percentage amoiunts of o2 versus nitrogen...etc. Its not rocket science.😉
