"And then I said to my friend Hugh Laurie, who IS American television."🇺🇲
@markgeneroso997611 ай бұрын
As an American I could listen to Hugh Laurie speak in his native accent all day. I wouldn’t be offended if he switched out of his American accent as he obviously has the right to do so 😊.

As an American I never really thought about how different the actual SET ENVIRONMENT is btwn the US and the UK BTS in tv. Now I think about it yeah THERES an obvious difference in budget and how much more fleshed out British tv characters are vs how much special effects US tv has

Stephen Fry is about name dropping other people. The book More Fool Me is essentially a long list of famous people that he knows.

I would have loved to see him in an episode of House. I was also hopeful that one episode would have had House get a knock on the head, develope amnesia and start speaking in a British accent.

I think the interviewer missed the chance to ask the most obvious question the no one has Mr Stephen Fry asked and that is; Why didn't he never did a guest spot on his Hugh's show House! I think it should have been a natural follow up question I always wanted to know the answer
@Centurio99 жыл бұрын
The talks got serious about that around the 3rd season but the producers wanted to wait until the Tritter-storyline was over and by then Stephen Fry wasn't available anymore due to scheduling conflicts. I guess it just wasn't meant to be :\

They talk about this on the fry and laurie reunion and in other interviews Hugh said it was because he couldn't keep up the American accent around Stephen

When they were replacing Cuddy, I thought it would have been great for Stephen to take over. I like how they did it (with Foreman) but it would have been spectacular to reunite Fry and Laurie.

I know! It's such a shame because of the parallels between House and Sherlock Holmes. Fry would have been a brilliant Mycroft character to Laurie's House/Holmes.

It was a very good show. However, when I finally delved into his past, I prefer his work on Black Adder and EVERYTHING he did with Stephen Fry. That's why I am very happy to know they are working together again on new film based off of one of Oscar Wilde's stories.
