Forgot to ask your opinion about my concern over getting adequate hooksets, especially if I went with straight FC, and in that case when texas rigging (normally skin hooked only, not buried mid-plastic? I'm sure braid to leader would cure that concern but will probably start with 10# FC. Eventually I'd like 20# braid to 10# FC leader but I mostly use spinning so I'm going to take my time with that!

This rod feels great when hook setting fish it is a fast action and pins those fish down with the extra length compared to a 6'10'' rod you will love it. It will cast great farther and feels super light in hand.

would you say this rod wouldn't be a great choice if I wasn't planning on using it primarily or often with moving baits. Paired with a Tatula SV 70 TWS I planned on using it with some plastics weightless, while using it also with lighter weights (1/8-1/4 mostly) but not necessarily with the smallest varieties of plastic bait. I throw a lot of T. rigs with 1/4 oz. but use a variety of plastics like midsize and sometimes full size brush hogs, hula grubs, etc. The ML is on order, so I guess I'll have a better feel when I put the reel on it. It was my way of trying to borderline the BFS concept, but I'm not really into the extreme side like throwing 1/16 oz. stuff with tiny plastics. I'm generally a finesse fisherman, using 8# & 10# FC lines or braid to leader. I was kind of surprised that you chose a reel with the bigger line capacity with any ML rod, but I don't know that it's not a GREAT PICK!

It will definitely fulfill all the needs you stated above I use the 6'10 Medium for weightless to 1/4 t-rigs and going to 7'2'' Medium-Light was a nice upgrade for weightless to 1/4 t-rigs I could cast it a lot further also compared to my 6'10'' expride casting model. I use Berkely XT Trilene 8lb-10lb mono line on it too and it did very well with 20lb braid and no issues. I like it with the 100-size reel but the 70 size should fine and should feel even lighter. The guys from Tactical Bassin also use this rod in their videos and catch plenty of bass hover strolling plastic set ups. It is a phenomenal rod and very nice to add to the collection.

Hey bro I have a question. I’m debating on a 6’10 M vs 7’2 M Adrena. My plan is to slap it on a chronarch G 150XG. Trying to use it for spotted bay bass here in Long Beach San Pedro. I have a 7’2 H zodias but I want something on the light side 1/4-3/4oz. (Will be throwing it in docks banks or marina) you think 6’10 would do since I have the zodia. Oh and I also have an expride 7’2 spinning I take with me.

Question: Why would you pair that rod up with that reel? To me round reels are more for downward fishing like you would do for red snapper than bass fishing. That reel weighs a whopping 12oz as opposed to something in the 4 or 6-7oz range? I have a 7' conquest with the aldebaran and that combo is light as a feather..
@arsenal_tackle_fishing
@arsenal_tackle_fishing 4 ай бұрын
That is a great question. Personally, I like using tools that feel comfortable in hand. I like the Calcutta Conquest because they are smooth, the clicking drag, line capacity. The 200 size is somewhat compact at 8.5 oz. I own 3 metanium shallow spool edition 6.5 oz reels I have been spooled by a 20lbs Salmon 70-100 line capacity just was not enough for me. The 200 size Calcutta Conquest has served me well I also own the 301LH and 401. I like the Gold body it just looks fancy to me and are very smooth reels. I do own a Batam 150 and Metanium 100 for some odd reason the 200 Calcutta Conquest was hard to put down I own 2 of them they are my workhorses. Def worth trying these round reels they are pretty versatile people like that round reel old school look to it. 7' conquest with the aldebaran set up sounds amazingly light! Gloomis Conquest rods are super slept on and superb. I enjoy them more than nrx and nrx+ rods by a landslide. Wish I can get my hands on more of them in the future.

Pity Shimano wouldn’t do these reels in silver same as bfs series.

My brother in law has the bfs Calcutta conquest he said he loves it! The silver would be nice for people who think the gold is a little too flashy

@@arsenal_tackle_fishing yeah our cs is great we work right next to them so I hear and see a lot. Really good people run it too everyone is super cool. I’ve seen some big striper at Castaic especially during trout plants!

@@Artificial_Fishing It's awesome that you work at Shimano! Especially if you enjoy fishing and gear. I would geek out about new upcoming gear Shimano and Gloomis are killing it in terms of product compared to other companies.

What reels are you running on these?

I put Shimano Vanford 2000 reels on both of them. Very light reels around 140-150 grams very light.

Japan has the 172ML/H, I wonder if it's same rod? Line ratings are same, but the upper lure weight rating is 42g.

I seen that! 172ML/H is a new 23 model. up to 1 1/2 oz lures must be a little stiffer than 72ml which is up to 3/4 oz lures but same line rating.

Hey man do you think this rod can work topwaters well? I’m stuck between this and a 795
@arsenal_tackle_fishing
@arsenal_tackle_fishing Жыл бұрын
From my personal experience could be different from others but with 795 Fury I purchased broke/snapped 20 inches from the tip after casting a A-Rig maybe 2-3oz it was my 5th to 8th cast on the river caught fish on it before it broke I loved it very parabolic and soft top to pin stripers. The 806 has never failed me once I throw A-rigs, Deps 175-250, S-wavers 168s and it handles everything even top water for heddon super spooks which was great for striper fishing with 50-80lbs braids handles amazingly. 806 is almost same like 795 on steroids but the 795 is a lot softer tip to midsection 795 would handle fine for top water more bend for jerking top water lures.

Shouldn't have a problem for some big ones. Probably too much rod for some lighter ones.
