I'm going to slow travel alone in Europe indefinitely. Would love to pack like you do. I have no meds, no makeup. Would love to know about shoes for hot and cold climate? One pair on...one pair carried? Taking the QMary2 from NYC to London...will have to skip the formal dinners, I guess! Thanks for all the ideas you give...
@TrackOurJourneyАй бұрын
Slow travel is the best! I pack in the bag either a slippers/sandals that can get wet if I am going to stay in a hostel or go to the beach, or I'm worried it will be too hot and I would prefer to wear sandals. I always just wear a mid height waterproof hiking boots. I try to get a black color one or neutral color if possible. It's not the most elegant shoe type, but I was able to get into michelin star fine dining with it in Paris. If I could, of course, I'd prefer to dress up more elegantly, but for the few times I go to those places compared to my active lifestyle, it wasn't worth it for me. I wore black pants with it and a long sleeve top. The reason is that when I travel, I am walking or hiking or riding a motorcycle or doing some activities that require wearing sturdy boots or have shoes with great traction. But if you are just walking alot, that's even better because you can bring walking/running shoes that are all black and it will look cuter with a long flowy skirt and a top. If you plan to go to nice dinners and be able to dress nicer. I have personally worn the boots with a dress/long skirt in hot weather places like the Philippines. Another option is to carry "foldable flats". I don't do this because I need support in my shoes and those flats does not have enough support for me. I've never brought more than one pair of actual shoes to travel because shoes take up so much space. Have a great trip!

I retired in the UK about three months ago when I was 57. Luckily most of my pension was accrued under a scheme that allowed me to retire at 60 so I took a fairly modest reduction of about 12%. People starting work now are looking at retiring at 68 but that will almost certainly increase. I suppose when you retire depends on how much money you think you need to live on in your retirement.
@TrackOurJourney2 ай бұрын
Congratulations on your retirement! 🎊 I am just retiring from being employed. I realized I may have used the wrong words or sentences in the video. I still want to participate in the workforce but more of an investor/ business owner instead of as an employee.

Thanks for sharing, I’m not working on my financial freedom even though it would be nice 😊 It would be great to great to reach those 1000 followers to be able to start monetise the channel, but even with over 100K it’s hard to live on those money, and it’s not financial freedom, it’s a lot of work 🤔
@TrackOurJourney2 ай бұрын
Yes I agree. It's a lot of time put in compared to how much money you can get from all the time invested. the upfront costs is very high and it's not easy to make it big in the KZbinr industry. Also motorcycle channels are so niche so it's hard to reach as many interested people. And editing takes a lot of time as well. I have found I don't have as much time to produce and edit videos as much as I used to because of other opportunities I am working on. But I do enjoy the interaction here with people like you who have become a virtual friend in this KZbin community. So I stay active on it as much as I can 😁

Why not, my first big bike at 18 was a fireblade 954, you control everything in the wrist, back then you learned very quickly how to ride, we had no TC ABS riding aids etc
@TrackOurJourney2 ай бұрын
that's is good to know. I have just been around people who taught me to not start out with 1L bikes. But you are right. If you can be responsible and also learn properly how to ride it. Then it should be just fine.

@@TrackOurJourney newer 1000s to me may be faster with more bhp, but they are dumber as well, I could have put my 2001 gsxr 1000cc in a newbies hands, and I could guarantee they would bin it or flip it, it was 160bhp with no riding aids and before ABS and TC was put on bikes, new bikes nowadays have so much tech and aids, anyone can ride them, and to crash one, you really do need to be an absolute squid, you only go as fast as your wrist goes back. Throttle control is the most valuable lesson someone can learn on a big bike

I have thought about a packable backpack to have in my top box. It could be nice when do shopping along the ride or if needed to carry things to or from the bike if leaving the bike when out riding. But it should be a simpler bag that packs smaller. 🤔
@TrackOurJourney2 ай бұрын
I don't have a real camelback backpack so I'm using my water bladder from my tank bag instead. I kept saying day pack but what I meant is packable bags are not meant to carry heavy items. Anyways this works great for hydration and it's a cheaper alternative.

How do you have your mosko moto bags attached to your bike? I have same bike and bags, but have not installed yet. Thanks!
@TrackOurJourney2 ай бұрын
super easy, just on the actual frame of the bike, making sure to be away from the heat sources. if you have the newer bags it's even better, i have the oldest version and it doesn't rotate the angle at all so it's not quite sitting perfectly but works good enough. the back part straps i just loop around the tail of the bike. enjoy!

You are wise to go with the taller boots for better protection. I've never motorcycled abroad, so I don't have experience there. I've heard good things about the Forma Adventure boots. Mark from Biker Bits in Australia has worn them for years. I have a permanent foot injury but I did get over Plantar Fasciitis with inserts that my doctor had custom mode for me years ago. Now I don't need the inserts. I also don't work on roofs or ladders like I used to. lol My latest boots are the Alpine Stars Tech 7 Enduro Drystar boots. These boots have a lot of protection but they squeak very annoyingly when I'm walking. I have worn them walking around Rallies all day long and they were comfortable enough. Though I did get comments about the noise. lol

I have the Sidi Adventure 2 GoreTex which I bought 2022. They have worked well both for riding and some walking at least shorter stretches like a couple of kilometres. Until this summer. On my last ride to Norway my left boot changed shape over the night or day. I wasn’t riding one day so they stood in my tent go two nights and one day. When I took them on the following day the toe box was deformed in the left boot, so it felt like if something was standing on my toes 😳. It becomes slightly better when the boots warms up but it presses on my toes all the time and get worse when the boots colds down again. 🤔

Alpinestars Belize Drystar is a great choice. Pricing is not too high (about €280). I am happy with them almost 5 years now. About safety, somewhere in the interior of the boot, there is a tag with numbers that describes the level protection for various tests (abrasion resistance, impact cut, transverse rigidity and Impact protection to the ankle and/or shin. If you see 2-2-2-2 it is the top protection. You can find several combinations of marking. The problem with all adventure boots is that they are not so breathable. So in hot conditions you suffer after few hours. My main problem with them is that since they are almost completely rigid, i use the gear lever with a lot of tricks!
@TrackOurJourney4 ай бұрын
I wanted to try Alpinestars boots but my feet are too small for adult sizes and the kids styles aren't as diverse as the adult selection. I've always heard great things about the alpine stars boots 😁 the adv boys do get too hot and I sometimes wish I have one that is not waterproof, but then if it rains it sucks to commute with wet feet.
