I have some questions: do we always have to wear a mask with resin? what happens if it doesn't fit? Are there ready-made resins? or do I always have to put the catalyst? and then I wanted to know if the colors can be of various types (metallic, acrylic, etc.) and if they always have to mix with the resin. Thanks

Thank you. I have 3 masks with the correct filters. I need to wear reading glasses for close up work. I have now been told no masks are made to fit glasses. Every nose piece just pushes them out of the way. Doesn’t half of the world need reading glasses? I may have to make my own.

I have a 3M mask that I wear with my glasses. Im trying to think back, but for some reason I don’t think I’ve had this issue. Have you tried a 3M?

I’m sorry, I just cannot stop watching you!!!! Maybe I will try your epoxy and white tint. Do you try to put your white right on the edge of your clear, with a hint of it on the dry? Because I tend to lose my define edge all the time. It’s so frustrating to see exactly what I want to do, and not have it turn out. Like you, I don’t like a huge vigorous wave, I like a small frothy undertow on the edge, but like 3 small ones…your videos are so great, can’t tell you how appreciative I am for your wonderful talent that you so kindly share.
@backwooddesignco11 ай бұрын
Sorry for the late response! Yes, exactly! You can try and let the mixed white epoxy set up a little bit before putting it down. Also, don’t blow too much with the heat gun. Let me know how it works out for you 🥰🌊

Lindo trabalho. Parabéns. Ficou top. Qual o produto final para dar acabamento na madeira?? Parece q passou um tipo de verniz ou cera no final sob a madeira e sob a resina... Alguma sabe o q passou? Parabéns pelo trabalho 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
@backwooddesignco11 ай бұрын
Muito obrigado! Tive que usar o Google para traduzir, então espero que funcione bem! O acabamento que uso apenas na madeira é um óleo de cera dura. A marca é Osmo Oil. Espero que isso ajude! 🌊🩵

Thank you so much for the detailed tutorial! One question, my white tinted resin is really thin and spreads a lot the minute I lay it down. I added 3 drops of tint into 3 or so ounces of resin. I'm using Mixol Universal Tints Oxide White #25 and MAS Table Top resin and hardener. Any ideas on why it's so thin?
@backwooddesignco11 ай бұрын
What brand of epoxy are you using?? I’d try letting the mixed white epoxy set up for 10-15 min before putting down. Also don’t go too crazy with the heat gun as that can push a lot of the product off. It could also be the epoxy you’re using.

What type of oil is that I know you called it “Osmo's oil", but what type of oil is it? I went on their website and put in that search perimeter and it said no search results… Frown… I want to thank you for answering all of our questions, sharing your time and your immense talent with us thank you again!
@backwooddesignco Жыл бұрын
It’s considered a hardwax-oil. It’s made of various natural oils and waxes. Osmo is the brand name. So happy to help! Thanks for watching 🥰

I don’t have a heat gun. Is it possible to use a smaller torch to heat up the resin instead of a heat gun?
@backwooddesignco Жыл бұрын
You can use a smaller torch to pop the bubbles, but you need the air to push and really be able to move the epoxy. You can get a heat gun on Amazon for $30-40 and it’s perfect for doing epoxy art. I’ve used a hairdryer before, but it blows too much dust I’ve found and not a high enough cfm.

HALF OF A BEAUTIFUL JOB AND IDEA. I WAS DISAPPOINTED WHEN YOU CHANGED PROJECTS.
@backwooddesignco Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. It was the exact same type of project and even wood species. However, this video was filmed in one day with minimal editing as it was for the woodworking show. Unfortunately, it wasn’t possible to use the same piece for the finishing stage as the epoxy takes 24-48 hours to cure ☺️

I’m assuming these prices can be decorative or as a cheese board. Is it possible to use them as a cutting board??
@backwooddesignco Жыл бұрын
Yes to all! However, I don’t recommend cutting on the epoxy, or using it for hot foods. Keep those on the wood portion. Depending on the epoxy you use, you can use the epoxy portion for serving other foods. Some epoxies aren’t food safe, so be sure to check the SDS or with the manufacturer.
