So a few questions…basically I can go to the Putco website and purchase a set of 2022 F150 (not Lightning) light up emblem, select projector headlights w/ camera on the option (my Lightning flash doesn’t have the spray washer), and the option of the T harness? Is that correct? Next, the wires you mentioned, so I cut the bottom red and black wire, and then tap it to the top red and black wire, is that correct? From the video the top red/black wire runs from one end of the T harness plug to the other end of the plug, I tap into the red/black wire of that set after cutting the bottom red/black wire. Also you mentioned about extending the wire that connects into the emblem, I’m guessing it’s because since the T harness is originally for a regular F150, it’s not long enough and the emblem is on the grill which needs the wires to be extended to reach the headlights? Thanks for the tips!

This is great, but a lot of work and the Lightning or Mach e will not precondition the battery for charging at each stop. If you're traveling in temperatures other than 65-80 degrees, the outside temp will impact your charging times without preconditioning.
@MartinRebuilds-fz1epАй бұрын
Your correct, but when I made this video there was no way to precondition the battery in a lightning when navigating to a tesla supercharger. This was only a work around to get it to navigate there with the distance to charger on the drivers display. Now, however, google ev routing works navigating to tesla sites and preconditions when in route.

@MartinRebuilds-fz1ep2 ай бұрын
I could have, but I didn't have new pins to completely remake the red and black wires for the T-harness. I used marine grade 3M splices that has the heat shrink glue inside. Makes for a waterproof connection and I have never had a problem with those. I stay away from the standard blue butt splices that don't have the waterproofing inside.

In a lightning facebook group with you that led me to all of your videos. After a spending the day watching all of them related to the lightning, I first wanted to thank you so much for the content. Unfortunately, I have a very similar story. Preorder the lightning, waited for over 2 years, finally received my truck and loved mostly everything about it. About 5 months back I was in an unfortunately accident that left my 2023 F150 lightning totaled (even though I do not believe the damage is that extensive). After months of back and forth and an ongoing legal battle my insurance is also refusing to pay even though I have full coverage. I just got my totaled truck back a few weeks ago and would love if I could possibly get in contact with you to discuss my issue further. Thanks again!

@MartinRebuilds-fz1ep4 ай бұрын
Based on the fact that the expedition has a 122" wheel base and the lightning is about 145, I don't think there is room for the battery underneath the current lightning frame when shorted to accommodate the expedition body.

Wondering, when will Ford install a proper "road trip planner," like or similar to Tesla, Rivian or Mercedes? Thank you for sharing, very helpful.
@MartinRebuilds-fz1ep2 ай бұрын
I actually really like the navigation that comes in the truck. The turn by turn capability and live data for traffic is great. However, your right that the planning side really is lacking a few key things. I wish the ford team would hire me as a consultant on proper road trip planning. When they revamp the navigation in the truck the planning charging stops function needs a overhaul including 2 key things, 1. Ability to only route to chargers with a minimum charge speed that I can set on the fly as I am planning. 2. The ability to know if the charging station is online or not. Often I have wanted to pull into a station and checked plugshare then realized it was down or limited on speed.

In terms of the hose clamp potential recall issue, I hope you are going to add some additional protection at that point, and/or a clamp between the two hoses to keep them rubbing together.... Just my, two cents on it, that I'm sure you've already thought of....
@MartinRebuilds-fz1ep5 ай бұрын
Once the hose clamp was rotated there were no sharp edges rubbing on each other. Only the hoses rubbing together and trying to eliminate rubber on rubber contact would mean changing a ton of routing on other lines on the truck. Been 50k on my lightning and no issues with it.
@nc38265 ай бұрын
@@MartinRebuilds-fz1ep i realize rotating the clamp addresses the main issue.... But it did have an indentation in the hose and I'm just a belt and suspenders kind of person.... But the type of precaution, I was suggesting Is more relevant for Ford production of future Lightnings.... Since we know some of those clamps we rotated in the wrong orientation... I look forward to you completing the rebuild and hopefully you'll do some mods... Good luck.

If they weren't 25k I would do it. The lightning only consumes about 25-30kwh of energy running at 65mph on flat ground so that would be a great range extender. But at 25k to rich for my blood. Would be cool for long towing road trips though.
