It does show up as a distance to charger on the left screen in the lightning, but I have not tested if that's pre-conditioning the battery. No need to pre-condition unless its cold out anyway.

@@MartinRebuilds-fz1ep Thanks, I am wondering for the specific reason of temperature with winter around the corner. I very much appreciate your video and the steps to make this work. I am going to wait for it to get a bit cooler here in MN and see if I can observe any pre-conditioning using your steps. I will report back if I see anything positive. I could have, but I didn't have new pins to completely remake the red and black wires for the T-harness. I used marine grade 3M splices that has the heat shrink glue inside. In a lightning facebook group with you that led me to all of your videos. After a spending the day watching all of them related to the lightning, I first wanted to thank you so much for the content. Unfortunately, I have a very similar story. Preorder the lightning, waited for over 2 years, finally received my truck and loved mostly everything about it. About 5 months back I was in an unfortunately accident that left my 2023 F150 lightning totaled (even though I do not believe the damage is that extensive). After months of back and forth and an ongoing legal battle my insurance is also refusing to pay even though I have full coverage. I just got my totaled truck back a few weeks ago and would love if I could possibly get in contact with you to discuss my issue further. Thanks again!

Based on the fact that the expedition has a 122" wheel base and the lightning is about 145, I don't think there is room for the battery underneath the current lightning frame when shorted to accommodate the expedition body.

@MartinRebuilds-fz1ep
@MartinRebuilds-fz1ep 25 күн бұрын
I actually really like the navigation that comes in the truck. The turn by turn capability and live data for traffic is great. However, your right that the planning side really is lacking a few key things. I wish the ford team would hire me as a consultant on proper road trip planning. When they revamp the navigation in the truck the planning charging stops function needs a overhaul including 2 key things, 1. Ability to only route to chargers with a minimum charge speed that I can set on the fly as I am planning. 2. The ability to know if the charging station is online or not. Often I have wanted to pull into a station and checked plugshare then realized it was down or limited on speed.

In terms of the hose clamp potential recall issue, I hope you are going to add some additional protection at that point, and/or a clamp between the two hoses to keep them rubbing together.... Just my, two cents on it, that I'm sure you've already thought of....
@MartinRebuilds-fz1ep
@MartinRebuilds-fz1ep 3 ай бұрын
Once the hose clamp was rotated there were no sharp edges rubbing on each other. Only the hoses rubbing together and trying to eliminate rubber on rubber contact would mean changing a ton of routing on other lines on the truck. Been 50k on my lightning and no issues with it.
@nc3826
@nc3826 3 ай бұрын
@@MartinRebuilds-fz1ep i realize rotating the clamp addresses the main issue.... But it did have an indentation in the hose and I'm just a belt and suspenders kind of person.... But the type of precaution, I was suggesting Is more relevant for Ford production of future Lightnings.... Since we know some of those clamps we rotated in the wrong orientation... I look forward to you completing the rebuild and hopefully you'll do some mods... Good luck.

When you put the battery back in what is the computer looking for? Could I swap in a higher capacity battery later down the road? I assume in a couple years there will be more energy dense cells and faster charging cells. I'm just curious thinking of getting a lighting since there are so many incentives for one plus 0% financing🤔 but I like to mod stuff and a bigger battery would be on the list once the battery tech catches up. I just discovered that the "Trip" in the Ford navigation only lets you have 6 stops also. My trip is 8 stops. If you know your charge addresses, put the route into the truck in reverse order. This is what I used - Started with ABRP on the web, exported the stops to xls, then imported to Google "My Maps" and made a route with the stops. Android Auto has the entire trip and stops. Now I have a route I can save to the desktop (on the phone). One tap and the route is active. My problem with ABRP is that I made the trip in ABRP saved it, then tried to use it in the truck through Android auto. The phone app came up with a different path than what I just made on the web version. The real question is does the truck warm the battery for charging like the Tesla does when it knows it is approaching a DCFC? I had the CCS adapter for my Tesla and it did not know to start warming the battery for a CCS DCFC.
