If you think those shit-for-brains wheels make this a MINT car, you've got a lot to learn about automobiles, Doophys.

Longmont was the place to cruise back in the day before the city shut it down. Beautiful cars and proud owners thanks for sharing!

Grew up in Boulder in the 1950s and early '60s, Main Street in Longmont was the place to cruise. The Black Angus drive-in just south of 17th on the east side was the northern turn around point and down just south of 1st street on the west side was another drive-in, whose name escapes me now, was the southern turn around point. Many of us high school kids had mid 50's Fords and Chevys although there were many others. Myself and two other friends had '57 Fords, but my favorite ride was my late best friends maroon '55 Chevy convertible, He put a 283 in it with the fuelie (Duntov 30/30) solid lifter cam, 12:1 Jahns pistons, Mallory ignition, 4-speed w/hurst shifter, no front bumper, chrome reverse wheels with 7 inch cheater slicks, and at different times a single 4 barrel, 2-4s, and even a 4-2s set-up for about a month. I would dare say it was the coolest 'drive to school' hot rod at Boulder High...I lived in Longmont during the mid 1970s, just a couple blocks east of mid town on Collyer Street, How sweet were the sounds from Main Street that sang me to sleep back in those wonderful days. I had the chance to talk with John Bandimere some years ago, he grew up a half dozen blocks south of the Lakeside Speedway and recalled how the sounds of the speedway were music in his ears as he laid in bed as a child... I stumbled on this video and it brought back a lot of great memories... One other thing I'd like to mention is that our local drag strip was Erie's 'Mountain View Dragway'. On Google Earth/Maps part of the shut off area can still be seen about a half mile south of the Erie Parkway and directly south from the Erie High School, what fun that was, everyone brought their cars out to see what they'd do...All that was open country and farm land back then...cheers

Nice! The only thing I'd do different is replace the single pot master cylinder with a dual pot MC. I have a friend who didn't do that and his brakes failed suddenly and he totalled his truck.

🇺🇸👍 A 62 2 door 500 was my first car I owned back in July 73. I’ve owned 4 total 3 2 doors and 1 4 door. I love these cars but unfortunately they are bad luck for me each one had to be sold because some bad unfortunately happened in my life and had to sell them it’s been 20 years since the last one and really would like another but at 67 year of age I don’t need any more bad surprises. I still enjoy looking at them.👍🥩🥔🌽🍪🥛💤

Hopefully, you still have the regular wheels that came with this truck. I hate waging wheels and thin tires. Beautiful truck except the ugly wagon wheels and thin tires that are on it.

@damianlindsey61772 жыл бұрын
Its not wagon wheels and once you v8 swap one of these, the brake upgrade sometimes require something bigger than gokart wheels. I swear, youd think people would get over the balloon tires on tiny wheels. Shit makes a truck ride like its on the ocean. Wobbly shit
@ModernLifeStyle Жыл бұрын
@@damianlindsey6177 Bigger side wall = more comfort. These low profile ones are rough riding and not very practical if you intend to use the truck for its original purpose.
@damianlindsey6177 Жыл бұрын
@@ModernLifeStyleMy 83 has 15s on it and it rides the same as it does with the 18s, minus the wobbly shit in the turns. These trucks do not ride good either way. Mine has a 351w in it and the front is so stiff that the extra 4 cylinders worth of motor didn't even make the truck sag. It's a little more soft over bumps from the added weight but nothing noticeable to anyone that rides in it and I also use the truck to haul anything I would when it had the 14s that came stock. The 15s I have on the truck are really narrow to clear the brakes and the stock wheels won't even clear the brakes.
@ModernLifeStyle Жыл бұрын
@@damianlindsey6177 I respectfully disagree. I must say I've never had smaller tires on my 86 but I've done plenty of wheel and tire swaps on my other vehicles and man its a big difference. But you might be right with this truck specifically. I just prefer the bouncy feeling when in a truck just adds to the experience in my opinion. I'd rather had a more bouncy feeling then a stiffer ride, especially in this truck as I hardly push it over 65mph on a daily basis.
