There are no other comedians ever, I believe half as good a Barry was ever born, the biting satire, I understand he wrote his own scrips and stage shows, was politically incorrect, not afraid to challenge the establishment, pillard by some, loved by all, never will we ever see a man like Barry, one in a biilion, I was privileged to see most of his stage shows, thank you.

Me and my husband have both been watching these old clips of Sir Les. For me, the 'Schnauzer' one is the one that makes me roar up the most!! But it would make me laugh: it's old-school funny. I'm a 64yr Nan with an 'earthy' SOH. Not much offends me: l can laugh at myself, don't take things too much to heart. But apparently thats not how it is these days: l should be offended by most things. I look back nostalgically to what/who was funny in the 70s. It's all those comedians that now get slated: I laughed at them too. Sure my saying that will offend many but do l care? Nah. Maybe you need stop following the Woke Herd and stop pretending everything offends you. Hard to find a comedian who's remotely funny these days, especially females: they're so boring and tame (Sarah Pascoe instantly springs to mind...)

He is a national treasure. I love how the left thought he was their champion, but he was only lambasting them,,, So they cancelled him. Little do the peanut brains know that he took the piss so cleaver and nobody was safe. Shame on the left for "Trying" to delete mastermind comedy.

This is hugely offensive... . I still fall off the sofa laughing every time i see it. It is comic genius from Barry Humphries, who of course was the exact opposite of Sir Les. Magnificent

He didn't just destroy political correctness, he chewed it up, spat it out, and flushed it down the toilet where it belongs. Shirt lifters goes right back to the allies in Africa, WWII, referring to the natives. RIP, BH, sorely missed.

The comments seem to be split 50/50 on whether his work was satirical or transgressive. If you were in his target demographic when this first aired, I'm curious: did anyone's perspective change over time, or have you always read his act the same way?

Compare this with the best humour the US influence can produce being Trumps utterances and dodging. One is pretty sick and doesn't bring much joy to any but the deluded suckers and lawyers. & Guliani can attest to where that sort of joy can go by getting too close. Associating with the poufia inside. get it?

I’m a proud lefty, feminist 74 year old who grew up in Tasmania (that bushy island state) and also grew up with the incomparable Barry Humphries. I adored him and all his alters, including the hilariously revolting Sir Les, our greatest ever representative at the Court of St James. I am so grateful for the treasure trove of videos such as this to be found online. We need Barry and his capacity to make us laugh to the point of tears more than ever in these ghastly times. RIP Barry Humphries 🩷🙏
