One of my all time favorite albums along with you, and Ferreira. So insane to see coverage on my favorite Rappers by my favorite Rappers--so grateful for that. Just throwing it out into the aether, but no one ever talks about Psyche O and how The Standard probably defined the vibes of many folks raised in the mid 00s adult swim curation of aesthetics. Always thought those guys were so creative and underrated, which was confusing to me. But thanks so much for this; I love learning abt this record; so much meaning in there. ~ Peace and be well Artisan ~

Dang I’m watching this and the discussion on Puba and so far in full agreement. It’s funny to hear he was allergic to hooks and the second brand nu album (without puba) to me is horrible and opens with hooks… I’m wondering if you’re going to discuss the making of one for all. Edit - exactly the sense of MELODY WAS MISSING …which for me and other cats in the hood uptown was big.

Peace peace, so yesterday I decided to listen to brand Nubians and found myself pondering who was the best mc question I saw a week prior of Brand Nu. 51 turning 52 this year and I worked at east west for a brief period and then walked away from the music industry in the early 90’s. Dante, sd50’s and were pretty much my staple motivation. Anyway I said I gotta find out why brand Nu broke up I know it was issues between lord and Sadat and Pu but was never clear. And looked it up and found this podcast and saw wow a whole series for Dante interviews fucking amazing and started listening. It’s refreshing to hear the life I lived from the voice and mind of one of the cats I studied from afar. Thank you for this podcast. Now it seems I don’t have to do what is being done…blessings to you king

enjoyed following through this season, getting insights into aspects of music i'm not familiar with and hearing stories of different artists i know and some i don't. thanks to you both for this and everyone else who made it possible. documenting hip-hop history is a great contribution and this is done very well. much love!

LONS were hugely popular in my hometown, Toronto. Check out the KZbin clip of them longside Fu Shnickens on Much Music. Busta and Milo's Jamaican/West Indian influence put our audience into a frienzie, because most of the blacks in Toronto were Caribbean. I heard about LONS backstage skirmishes in their visits to Toronto, but you'd never know, because they put on such an amazing live show. Big respect!🇨🇦

The small mindedness of automatically dividing the wu artists and trying to single out favourites and signing to different labels is interesting and sad and short sighted. Wu tang could of been as big as Disney.
