We have a beautiful cookstove with nickel trim. It is always looking dull. Have you found something to keep it shiny?

I wanted to thank you for the wood cookstove videos. This is how I was raised, cooking on our antique wood cookstove, on the coast of Maine in the US. I'm hoping I can invest in a Kitchen Queen 750 for my new fixer upper, Maine oceanview farmstead.

Nice video .. If you can pipe-in outside air to the firebox you would be able to use less wood and not use the heated air for combustion.

The first day I got Max, pictured, I took him to a dog park. He had never been. Wasn't sure on the other dogs, he was never socialized as a pup. Now, all I have to do is say the word PARK & he bolts for the door.

Hello from New Hampshire. I use walnut oil on a cold stove and crack a window when lighting. Used olive oil and fine steel wool when restoring the cast cook top because I plunk down bread to make toast and wanted a friendly surface. Gram taught me to make a ball out of Cut-Rite wax paper to buff out the top. Leaves a teflon like finish. Your stove cleaned up beautifully. I use a cream product called the Perfect Sink on my stove enamel.

You said you live in Kentucky. We live in Kentucky too and are going to be buying a wood burning cook stove. May I ask what kind of stove you have and where you bought it? I have been having trouble finding a place local for us to look at the stoves to buy. Obadiah's is the only place.we have been able to find on line that has what I am looking for. Thank you for your video's they are fun to watch.

Ahh- I thought your stove was the 550 model. You can do a lot of cooking on that! Many pans will fit into the oven. We also have a magneto Echo fan for both our two stoves. They will even drive the heat up the cellar stairs. Thanks for bringing us along to make this soup. Doesn't get any better than that...

Hello from our farm in New Hampshire. Kitchen Queen is an excellent stove. Not keen on your chimney. I'm a newspaper and kindling kind of girl with the occasional pine cone. I restored our great uncle's 1930 Home Comfort. She works like la charm. All the best ~ Diane

Hello Diane! Thank you so much for your comment. We went round and round about our chimney design and the was our home is built to accommodate our Kitchen Queen. we are still working out the kinks and have been doing much better in lighting and keeping smoke out of the farmhouse when doing an initial fire. I love the way the stove keeps our house toasty warm!

honeybugglehomestead- You just can't beat these stoves! I would get the smaller model for our farm cottage. Yours would drive us out! We have cathedral ceilings and designed the house around the Home Comfort. She had to have 2 foot clearance in the back. Stove pipe goes straight up⬆some 7 feet. She makes for a dramatic statement in the kitchen. I would miss having this independence from the grid ~ Diane

I enjoyed this. Your voice is relaxing. A couple of things. Burn off the blue coating on a new mantle before putting the chimney on. Get the match close to the mantle coating but don't touch it with the match. Mantles are very delicate and bumping them once the coating is burned off, will damage it. And also, after you light the lamp, keep it on a very low setting, only glowing the top of the mantle for a good 10 minutes to warm the entire lamp before raising the brightness. The best and most durable mantles are the new OLD stock made in Brazil ones in the orange & blue boxes which can still be found today. Good luck!

The fan is 100% electrical. the strips you mentioned are called thermocouples and when combined together they are called a thermopile. The more "strips" you have, the more electrical power you can create, If you had a really BIG thermopile, you could run you washing machine...truly.
