At 7:36 it is mentioned that the primer should get sanded down to 600 grit OR sealed, does that mean if your using sealer, you do not need to sand down the primer to 600 grit but if your skipping the sealer, you do need to sand down to 600? But on the car, it showed you sanding to 600 and still sealing it?

I don't pay alot for the exhaust parts, unlike the expensive pre-made Magnaflow direct fit exhaust system, with everything on it. I look at my existing exhaust layout, then get junk yard exhaust tubings, straights, elbows, flex pipe, flanges, hangers, resonator, muffler, etc. I got the larger sizes, instead of 1.75 inch, I got the 2.25 inch, then assemble it myself. Instead of paying $1000 canadian dollars before taxes, I got it done myself for drastically less dollars. I also get the mandrel bent elbows, magnaflow and borla mufflers, and nice chrome tips. The non mandrel bends are either crushed or wrinkled, while the mandrel bends are smoothly bent. I am going to use the Impala's dual exhaust axle back on the Uplander, with resonators in place where the Impala had its mufflers, since the van has its muffler, in the middle floor pan area, then add the Magnaflow muffler, and chrome tips at the end, coming up in the spring of 2025.

When you switch to 100% argon, do you need to purge the previous gas mixture from mig welding out? Or does that quickly happen a few secs after you pull the trigger on the spool gun? Thanks
@eastwoodco
@eastwoodco 14 сағат бұрын
The line's going to be purged by the time you pull the old wire from the hose and get your new welding wire ready to go.

What grade of clay bar should I use? I got me an overly hard one (the only one that was available locally) and it messed up my paint. Holograms everywhere. Never again. Good thing my car is white. Will an overly hard clay bar work on the windshield as well? Or should I go down to maybe a medium?
@eastwoodco
@eastwoodco 14 сағат бұрын
As long as there's not rocks or hard debris in the clay you can use it on a windshield. Glass is very hard.

That ain't no door ding. You can clearly see the chisel mark the hammer you showed there left. Bahaha. Also, you should always sort the bodyline out first and then the dent (trim in this case)

What grade of aluminum alloy is this, please?
@eastwoodco
@eastwoodco 14 сағат бұрын
3003 is what Jamey prefers to use as it's easier to work. You can also get by with 5052 which we have found to be a bit more common.

that multi-purpose degreaser is pretty much brake cleaner in a way right?
@eastwoodco
@eastwoodco 14 сағат бұрын
IT IS NOT Brake Cleaner. It's pre-painting prep. A clear example of the difference is you can use pre-painting prep to clean before welding vs. you CANNOT use brake cleaner.

Another greart explanation, thank You, but I have to ask something. If I have paint instructed to mix 5:1 (ex. 500g:100g) and I should add 30% of thinner measured by volume, does it mean I should add 30% of 500g or 30% of 600g mix :? PLZ HELP
@eastwoodco
@eastwoodco 14 сағат бұрын
We're guessing it would be of total volume - but always best to check with the manufacturers instructions on the label.

I’ve been watching Brian since he started his channel ! My last two spray guns have been from Eastwood a Devilbiss Pro lite and just last week a Devilbiss DV1 old school clear coat edition. Many factors go into a great paint job I learn something new every time I spray in my home booth!

@eastwoodco
@eastwoodco 4 күн бұрын
Depending on how you order your base coat you'll either just be pouring it directly into the paint gun OR reducing it and then pouring in gun as you go. Same thing applies to clear coat you'll start spraying and then mix activator as you go along and pour into gun.

@eastwoodco

Yes you can buff using just a rotary buffer - you will need to be careful as it is more aggressive than a random orbital buffer.
