I know well over a dozen musicians who had that Line6 M9 and all of them broke within a few months of taking it on tour. Glad to see yours is still alive and well, sounded great to my ears that board. Cool video :-) I like that DOD. Im using a mix of a GL custom drive and a Nux Horseband mini for my Jerry stuff. I just have the gain very low on both pedals.

@@redseadiver43 I really dig the Strymon El Capistan and the Strymon DIG. The DIG probably does ambient better but both are incredible and can get the job done. For something a little more affordable the TC Electronics Flashback V2 is another great option. I still have the Obscura, nice pedal.

Mike Nappi I’ll have to get the exact settings but I use a Tron Up set to hardly open at all in LP mode into an Octave Fuzz that isn’t breaking up a bunch. Last thing, neck pickup with the volume down at least halfway.

Nice video. I am looking into getting one to place in my efx loop only (I run everything in my efx loop, Phaser, Flanger, EQ, Boost, noise gate, delay, chorus, reverb) but i always preferred pedals over multi efx boards, but i hear good things on the HX. I was considering getting one or two M5 units to run stuff like Phaser, Flanger, EQ,Tremolo with a pedal switcher (Voodoo Lab PX8 Plus) since I seldom use these effects for just 1-2 songs, and so there is no need to carry all these pedals to a gig. What is your take on the effects sounds vs pedals? How do you find the quality of sound when you run 3-4-5 effects (ex. reverb, chorus, delay, noise gate and boost) vs just having a reverb and noise gate one or vs pedals for that matter? I am very particular of my tone and spent a lot of money getting good amps and cabs and so the fact that it is not bypass, i wonder how it'll affect my tone and how multiple pedal effects will sound like. Lastly, how is the wah effect and how is the talk box effect for stuff like Bon Jovi & Joe Walsh? Is it realistic sounding and can I ditch my talk box banshee 2? Thanks
@TheJaketone6 жыл бұрын
I love analog pedals and in general prefer them for their sound and feel. That said, the effects in the HX are very good (excellent on some) and can be manipulated in ways that would be impossible with an analog board. I keep all my analog effects that are must haves on my board and integrate them with the HX which covers the rest except for the great reverb in the Big Sky. The Phasers, Chorus, Trem, Harmonic Trem, Univibe, Whammy, Dual Pitch and pretty much every delay are absolutely great. The Leslies and Flangers don’t do it for me and I don’t use the verbs much but totally could. I prefer the Big Sky for verb. The Noise Gate is excellent and super tweakable. So far I really dig the whole thing. Snapshots are huge too and so helpful for quick changes off totally different tones. The DSP bypass is very good and so are the overdrives. Hope that helps.
@Θανος-ι6φ6 жыл бұрын
Hey there, thank you so much for your detailed input. Do you find the DSP bypass colors the tone much? I am planning on using it in the efx loop only. Lastly, did you find a quality difference or upgrade in sound of effects in HX from the M9 or not really, just added effects? Thanks

@TheJaketone6 жыл бұрын
I may make another video doing that. Really I just use them before and after the HX as you can see on my board on the video. I prefer analog drives/fuzz gain devices then I let the HX take the mod/filter/delay/crazy one off effects or synths role and add the Big Sky last for general verb. I do not use the loops on the HX to run effects in.

what'd you think of the SWART amp?
@TheJaketone6 жыл бұрын
I love the Swart amp. It’s definitely not a blackface Fender bright Jerry style tone stack. I do run 6L6s in it and I often combine it with a Super Reverb style amp called an Allen Old Flame with a JBL D130. That combo really fills each other out, Swart has this midrange that is just awesome...Swart is the peanut butter and the Allen is the jelly and bread. At small gigs I just use the Swart and I love it in that application.

@@dr.granolias753 lol na dude, I'm not knocking on this guy though he sounds great. Have you seen been to a Dead & Company show? There's no way you have to say that. I threw up in my mouth when they released the press that Mayer was going to be taking over the lead role, I couldn't stand that body wonderland egotistical maniac. All I can say is he has been humbled by Bob and after seeing him the first time I left convinced he might be the best guitarist living right now. We've all seen the attempts made to step in Jerry's shoes crumble but Mayer took it and ran. I'll never want anyone other than Jerry singing Brokedown Palace or wharf rat to me but as far as tone and playing Mayer is carrying the torch. The tone and volume from the current shows vibrate your spine to the core. Comparing a dod 250 and a pick-up booster into a tiny swart amp to what Mayer is pulling is comical. If a youtube video tops Mayer then the next guy just needs a silverface with a jbl -boom better than a guy selling out Yankee stadium 6 months in advance to people from every continent.
