I studied my masters in law at Oxford after Hull University and as a Northerner. The two experiences were very different. I met some amazing people though and loved the sport opportunities. I wish that I could go back with the confidence that I have now as an older adult in terms of the tutorials though. The fact that I was good at writing essays helped me get in and win the scholarship, it was awkward being in the tutorial situation in terms of the oral discussion (for postgraduate). They didn't weigh up that ability in my admission and I was a shy young lady back then. Such a shame really as it made things really awkward with some tutors. I would say that my background is middle class, but I was stunned by the expensive holidays that some people went on over Christmas. I didn't worry about the rent then, but the world has changed and cost of living has increased.

I know this is ancient, but do you think mansfield or wadham is better for a minority or more disadvantaged background?

Hi Rosie! I've been looking into getting another Bachelors degree, and this is really convincing me to take up Archaeology haha. Thank you for this video, even though it's a little older. I'm a long-time subscriber so I already watch your other videos. You're an inspiration to me. 🧡

lol that may be the case as I know there’s a lot of scholarships. However, the point is that students who move on from schools like CH to Oxford will already be used to old and strange traditions, therefore making Oxford less overwhelming and alienating

I am historian and biochemist, interested into archaeology. I was listening how .....oh, a girl from Oxford is sharing some advice abot books of whats supposed to be science. And than I SAW "opinions formed on white male experiences which is not representative or valid" and the rest of it. And I was about to vomit. The conditions of Truth and scientifical TRUTH are made by analytical and experimental Logic, but it seems that even at Oxford they could be forgotten for some good uni fees. If someone really believes that the colour or gender is the cause of something, or even more, that the problem is with the white man, I wish them live a life in which al the treatments of their desease is about to be discovered by a lesbian black man. As a matter of fact, I dont expect you to believe in the DNA or Gravity. Why would you if they were so manly and so white. Ra&&ist i∆iot!

Hii. I have been watching some of your videos and I myself want to study archaeology undergraduate. I was wondering if you knew specifically the cons and pros of Cambridge and Oxford. I have considered other places as well, such as UCL and Nottingham. However, ultimately I think it is between Cambridge and Oxford. Thank you in advance.

Hello! Just a few things to start you off :) Pros: Taught by biggest names in the field Access to super cool excavations College level support as well as uni Lots of fieldwork funding opportunities Some cool modules Amazing libraries Fun historical traditions Cons - at least at Oxford: Not very practical (mostly literature) Workload is very intense May be allocated a college you don’t like Tutorial style may not be for you Have you also considered York? I loved their course when I was applying. I also loved Nottingham 😍

Between the two Oxbridge unis I’m not 100% sure because I only have experience of one I’m afraid! But Oxford is bigger and perhaps more suited to undergrad night life??
