You can combine all device which support MCU. Only restriction is that proprietary extensions like iCON 2nd display can only be set globally.

I’m going to be honest - there is a comment like this related to every piece of software. The grass is never truly greener on the other side. Bitwig listens more than some, less than others. I’ve been in the place of being unhappy with software and blaming devs for being useless - but this happens with every piece of software I’ve ever used. So, if Bitwig doesn’t work for you, use something that does. Channelling all this anger into an list of things that are proveably untrue (“everything in Bitwig is left unfixed”) doesn’t just waste your time and energy, it wastes the devs time in actually figuring out what needs addressing. It muddies the waters and stops people from taking the points seriously, no matter how valid. If everyone just whined aimlessly when they did the spectral suite bs nothing would’ve happened. It was because people directly pointed out to them where they messed up that things actually got addressed. The community turned really toxic over the course of that weekend - but it wasn’t the toxicity that changed anything. By all means be angry that things aren’t functioning - but think about the points that annoy you, and explain them clearly and bluntly. It helps everyone, and avoids needless arguments. After the spectral suite bs I lost a lot of faith in Bitwig - but I’m not going around saying everything in Bitwig is a broken mess - cos it is just untrue. I say this from a place of having been there and done that, and in the end, endless and direct-less complaining only ever stopping me making music, because nothing is perfect: Ableton prove-ably leave bugs unfixed and is unstable; Bitwig pulled the spectral suite bs; Tracktion is a CPU hog, FL has an awkward workflow; Reaper’s UI and UX are clunky; Cubase has limited fx slots. The list goes on. There is no perfect tool.

Because of 2 features that it has to offer that no one else has I am fking forced to use it cause there is just no competition. Yes, it is a pre-release (but from my experience there is no real difference to "final" releases).

Puh, tough question. Not really interested presonally. Much too limited for a standalone device (I have enough MPCs for that task). Might be interesting as a controller...

@@mossgraber That was my thought as well. I really wish they had included that MPE functionality to this device.

To get the controller data I use the Jamepad library. MIDI data is then created via the Bitwig API. There is no additional software necessary.

On my German system I search for "Umgebungsvariablen". So, not sure what it is called exactly on your locale. Try the matching word(s) for "environment variables".

It is currently not possible but OXI told me that some people asked about it and they are considering it. Maybe ask as well.

🙂 Yes, pure DX7 sounds are maybe not the thing to lust after but there are still some classics among them. But with the disting it is a nice way to get some FM flavour into your eurorack and for the Iridium it gives you a good starting point for further exploration.

​@@mossgraber Reasoning behind this: In Reaper clip session view is not important to me as launchpad user. Instead i will prepare much more scenes and will organize clips in them. After that, im not interested in clips when i play live. Scenes can be organized by color, rows or columns. This alone will be gamechanger for me. I can even make simple "pixel art" and play on it :D Second thing is workaround that clips are stacked regardless their scene. I will create empty clips and mute them to combat this, i don't want them be seen in the grid. I got my launchpad for Bitwig or Ableton use, but than i discovered your channel and learned about "smooth scene switching". This little thing is enabliing live usage in Reaper for me, and i don't want to switch DAWs. I mean i tested both Bitwig and Ableton, but Reaper is better for me and can handle more vsts without sound issues. Thanks again, you are a legend.

@@mossgraber i have Maschine Jam and Akai Fire. Is it a realistic expectation that if i learn the extension, i will be able to completely forgo using the computer?

@@hippiechixx I think you can get pretty far. Computer wins as soon as you switch from the session view to the arranger but you can still use the Jam for mixing.
