I just replaced my head gasket today and had a similar thing happen. But my issue was the back side of the valve cover gasket was spitting oil all over the back of the engine, big pool of oil like yours in the floor after idling 20 mins. I thought it had to be oil filter leaking but it was easy to see once air filter was off. Taking a break now, going to pull the cover off and see what the heck happened. OK I'm back, I put some grey rtv on the valve cover gasket so that it would stay put in the valve cover when I laid it down and that worked good. No more leak!

Balljoint should be riveted.... these are after market.

Those upper ball joints are aftermarket, it’s that way on all of them after you change them. The original ball joints are riveted in and you have to drill or cut them out

Thanks Chris. Yeah I was thrown off a little on this one as it's also a Heavy Half VIN. Wasn't sure if the 3/4 tons had serviceable ball joints. Anyways, ended up being a good discovery!

The only thing I see is the ball joints were replaced. What is different about them than the normal 73 through 87 upper control arms?

I guess I wasn't expecting those zirc fittings, and I just cleaned them up to inspect. I read somewhere the serviceable ball joints were 71-72/and 3/4-1 tons so I'm all over the place.
