I just replaced my head gasket today and had a similar thing happen. But my issue was the back side of the valve cover gasket was spitting oil all over the back of the engine, big pool of oil like yours in the floor after idling 20 mins. I thought it had to be oil filter leaking but it was easy to see once air filter was off. Taking a break now, going to pull the cover off and see what the heck happened. OK I'm back, I put some grey rtv on the valve cover gasket so that it would stay put in the valve cover when I laid it down and that worked good. No more leak!
