Politicians get kickbacks from construction projects that are handed out to their close friends, family and/or campaign sponsors. Construction companies then order substandard materials and inflate the expense report for these road projects built using shoddy asphalt that will decay in one of the hundreds of yearly typhoons in the Philippines so they can do this all over again. The politicians won’t do anything to fix the roads until it’s time for reelections. It’s clockwork. They also build shoddy condominiums hoping a hardworking but naive OFW gets suckered into paying an obscene amount of monthly mortgage for a sketchy condo unit. For example, I am from Cebu and I can tell you one company based in Cebu builds tall condominiums and the ratio of the condo units to the elevators doesn’t add up. There are so many units in that tall building but it only has TWO elevators for the people living there so you wait for HOURS before you can use the elevators! This is one of the many reasons why many Filipino actors become local politicians when they age out of showbiz and don’t get movie deals and commercial deals anymore. For example, Robin Padilla! I’m sure Lorena knows his name. At least Manny Pacquiao funds projects with his own money which is why he has to keep boxing at his age! I don’t know how to fix the problems in my motherland but it is nothing new. I strongly believe the Philippines was better off as a member of the U.S. commonwealth. At least there was some sort of oversight and accountability while we maintain our independence. Anyway, thank you for this video! It allowed me to express my frustrations LOL God bless to you and Lorena!

The place to be! No place in the Ph that is flood free. Burgos circle has an underground cavity that flushes out any water underground all the way to Manila Bay. Remember now this was a military base. The underground bunker is designed as an escape route of the soldiers during WW2. Also the electricity in BGC is pretty much guaranteed 24/7 because of the call centers that’s all over BGC. America’s top 4 banks that does not operate in PH are here because the entire worldwide operations of Wells Fargo, B of A, Citibank, Chase/Morgan Stanley are here. It can’t afford to shutdown not one minute. Singapore’s Cloud storage is beginning to pile up here. No place in PH that has this infrastructure. SM Seaside is the only mall in the Philippines that is built to its current size. Other large mall in the Philippines get their present size through a series of expansions through the years. Also, SM Seaside is the only one among the largest malls in the Philippines that is contained in a single structure. Other larger malls such as SM MOA, SM North EDSA and SM Megamall, all in Metro Manila, are composed of multiple buildings with access via street-level walkways and elevated walkways. In fact, SM Seaside is the largest single structure in the Philippines in terms of floor area, at 470,000 square meters or around 47 hectares of indoor space.

@@shibby_travels thanks Ivy, I enjoyed your evening discussion of the US - Phil history. Read Col Fredrick Funston’s biography, he was the US Army officer who captured President Aguinaldo. His capture was in large part due to Filipino locals . Having personally operated with the AFP in Luzon chasing the NPA and later Abu Sayyaf in Mindanao. As good as we thought we were as military soldiers a large part of our success was due to the local Filipinos who sided with the ‘Kano’s’ and assisted in their capture.

The problem in American Malls are the uncontrolled crimes, shop lifters cant be arrested that causing bussiness owners a big problem they are loosing a lot of money thats why its better to close than loose more investment not like in the Philippines they have security everywhere to arrest the culprit and turn over to the police later also checking all people going inside to make sure no deadly weapons can bring inside the Mall areas..😅

Great observations and spot on! What people in my state of California fail to grasp is that the 'presence' of a serious security force be it private guards, local law enforcement, etc. enhances shoppers' ability to enjoy the mall experience. Not having to look over your shoulder, as a shopper or 'profile' certain shoppers who look sketchy, as a store owner, go a long way to drawing in customers.
